I said after the demolition at the DW this season that we should look at Gleeson as he never stopped talking and was definately an on field leader. I'd have him and Henry in the centres any day I can see Gleeson and his skills putting countless tries on a plate for Broughton, I'd go so far as to say should we sign Gleeson that I'd suggest if Broughton did play outside him that he'd be a cert for 20+ tries next year as he really is that good.

For me that would be the missing piece of the jigsaw and every bit as good a signing as Patten of Houldsworth.

Gleeson would be an excellent signing, but when you look at the balance of the team for next year Gleeson is a probably not.

Agreed. That would be a massive disappointment rather than a massive signing for me, although I think after all this build-up there will be a part of me that is underwhelmed regardless of who it is.

Remember that this is smithy's opinion of what a 'big signing' is, so he probably counts Ade Gardner in that bracket. I'm disappointed, I'd rather play Gibson. (Plus Gardner is 28 and has been playing since 2001)

That's because we look to sign mainly English born players. This is unlike your priviledged club who get financial support from the RL and are allowed to sign a plane load of Aussies to spare you and RL the embarrassment of failure. (Because no player of any worth in Wales wants to play for you)

Maybee not the massive signing that people are building up, but still a "big signing" for Salford given ade's try scoring record and the club he has been a regular in !

Gardner is not particulary fast, strong or agile. He is a decent finisher who is good under the high ball. His tackling is O.K but he positioning isn't great (he keeps coming inside, giving the winger the outside when he shouldn't). He is 28 and the reason why he has scored so many tries can be summed up in one world: Gidley.

I agree, but Henry isnt the same class as Gidley has been throughout the majority of the time Gardner has been outside him, in my opinion anyway. Obviously in recent times age has started to catch up with him.

If it is true its one i'd have mixed feelings about, but still think he would be a positive addition, if he's been good enough for Saints up to now, then he's good enough for us next year in my opinion.
