not one person 'with money' has come forward and invest, salford rlfc is not exactly a gold mine and is not very attracting for someone to come in and spend a fortune and not even make it back

as for enough money will bring any player bollox, enough money could buy me a brand new house, car, private jet and whatever else i wanted but if i havent got the money to buy those things then unfortunately i cannot go out and get them

you say in the last bit that he needs to spend most of the money on players but I'm pretty sure he will spend all the money on players. That's what makes him such a good chairman. He seems to put all he has into the club.

As for asking him to step down.. What good will that do? You're assuming that there is someone with more cash willing to step in. It sounds like mr Wilkinson is doing everything he can and would step aside should someone come forward. You can't say fairer than that. Maybe his big mistake is continuing to employ simms and tarry.

It's not the likes of John Wilkinson who is stitching you up, it's the likes of Offiah and the other agents who are only in it to line their pockets. It's Offiah who has filled Mylers head with rubbish and advised him to move on, and if that's what he has decided to do then there's no point in trying to keep him at your club cos his heart will never be in it.
We need the agents to walk away from our game, not the likes of John Wilkinson.

The ownership of the ground has effectively transferred from the chairman to a director. If people were happy to consider something owned by the chairman as being owned by the club, then what difference is it being owned by another member of the board?

The reality seems to escape some people doesn't it GT? - Do you tell him again or do I repeat it? Nobody is interested The club has been a money pit for JW for years.....

Its not just about the money its about ambition, we have none and neither does our chairman, its bollox!

Sadly, for most sport, it is far more about money than ambition. Teams with money succeed in every sport - I would happily accept teams you can name, without financial clout, doing as well as you demand? They will only achieve levels of success, that many of us would love in our sphere, with greater finances than their competitors. RL? Bigger crowds means bigger turnover and create greater access to full Salary Cap, meaning better players are interested and this fosters some form of winning mentality. The chance of winning things with poorer (paid) players is limited - we can't seem to afford what better-off clubs can offer? Myler is a great illustration - surely being offered the best pay deal we can offer shows ambition but he shows greater ambition by going where there is more money? Football? Historically it is the same teams with the highest financial turnover who rule the roost. Without the introduction of Chelsea and City's benefactors they were average. I don't really think JW has that sort of muscle and after years of propping the club up I doubt he has much faith left, let alone ambition.
I agree we do seem to have limited ambition but even more limited finances. The thing that depresses me most is that I can't see any way out of this and stated the same on here a couple of months ago. I don't think it is purely a lack of ambition; it is a lack of support and capital.

Was planning to build an iconic stadium and casino that would have made the club self sustaining not ambitious enough for you? Perhaps it should have hovered too?

i'm embarrassed! stunned to be quite honest. we seem to have a bunch on 'fans' who actually WANT us to be the next Oldham, Swinton, Rochdale and to go bust! or they're from an alternative reality!

fact is rugby league has never been that bif in this part of the world. we lost Broughton, Belle View, Swinton is a shadow of its former self ans Salford would have gon ethe same way long ago without the hard work and committment of our Directors...that's the simple truth, the clubs accounts show the clubs finnacial reality and there is no one to come in and invest. they would have done already.

The most important bit , as I posted on a different thread , beware getting too much involved with the council and ending up like we are at Leigh
