Do we think NB will change his in my view negative stance when / if we get new owners LF? = new start = clean slate you read sales reports / articles they are so positive and welcoming and warm while in my eyes there is always a sinister undertone when there is a salford story might be worth an ask
If you compare sales coverages both in paper and on social media in the MEN it dwarfs ours, they have twitter accounts run by the MEN promoting positive news stories all the time for me NB or somebody in his department should take it upon themselves to do somethin simular.
I do feel JW or somebody has in the past has run over his dog or somethin sometimes perhaps if we stuck an extra sugar in his tea or invited his family and friends free to games every week for a meal n beers he might look at promoting the club a bit positively, being a jorno he has to get the big story that's fine but I wish he looked at the bigger picture with sale ready to swoop in we need to fight back and be positive and without him helping us its not goin to happen
There was another bloke called Ben Collins he usually does bury and a bit of wigan who did a few articles while NB was I presume away or busy but I though he showed how the club can be highlighted in a positive way but not OTT just like sale.

It's really difficult knowing Neil as I do, as I have been criticised in the past for backing him... but the Neil Barker I know seems a far cry from the guy who is perceived to be the root of all evil on here. He's desperately keen to see Salford do well, but he can only report on what he is given. The fact is... it's been hard to find much positive to report on over the last few years and that saying about making a silk purse from a sows ear has never been more apt. It would make his job an awful lot easier if he had a ton of good stuff to report. If there is positive to report... he'll report it... if not... he'll report that... and some of the stuff that I have been told in the past would make your toes curl... but he chooses not to report it because of the damage it could cause... although saying that... he probably wouldn't be allowed to report it by his bosses as the MEN do need to keep some kind of decent relationship with the club, and it really isn't that kind of newspaper.
As for the comparison to Sale... He'd be the first to try and dwarf that with Salford stuff... so it's the sports editors that need to be taken to task on that.
Overall... I've never had any major issues with him. Yes... I have phoned him complaining a few times, but listening to his reasons each time... I've always felt that it was justified.
So all in all... If we have the positives I believe they will be reported in a positive way... but it's really not been easy to find much recently unless we make it up... So the question is... Should he make it up to make everyone happy ?
If people feel otherwise, then that's fair enough. But my own personal views of him are that they guy isn't all bad. My feelings for this rugby club will always overshadow my loyalty for a journo... but truthfully... He's always been fine with me and I take people how I find them.

| Just digging into Securitas and Christ I had no idea they were as big an outfit as they are, makes you wonder how a Swedish firm became interested in RL?
Just hope that it comes to fruition as over the years have worked for a Scandinavian company and worked closely with lots of others and they in my experience all go about things the right way and I couldn't see them getting involved if they didn't want to do it right and make a real go of it.

There's a fledgling Swedish rugby league competition. Possible way in for a Swedish Super League franchise through Salford, merger or otherwise?

I can't wait £10 euros a pint, 24 hour daylight in the summer, leggy blonds , meatballs at half time and the team running out to Waterloo by Abba -)

| I’ve no ikea what's going on but I’m sure by this afternoon Sven Goran Eriksson will be reported in the MEN as firm favourite to come in as Football Director.

I wonder if any of the blues amongst us have any left over "Save Our Sven" stickers for when he starts getting the inevitable grief from board and supporters?

In business terms it would have to be 17:00 Friday wouldn't it?
Though why not sort it all out at 23:59:59 Sunday to keep us all guessing.

It's the best news we've had for a while. Be a doll and let us await an announcement with a degree of optimism, hey?

| Just read one of Martyn Sadlers tweets and it refers to a new ownership structure does this mean that there is one now a coming together of investors to form a buyout partnership?
Would still very much hope to keep JW as a figurehead chairman but start afresh from the ground up.
Maybe someone with the right work background might know but if there is a change of ownership will all contracts for playing and back room staff need to be nulled and start again? If so you'd hope that the new owners would make current staff re apply for positions rather than starting off where the current owners finished up.

Michy my old mate let me advise you......
As you beloved club operates as a limited company the only way any one would have to apply for a new contract would be if that company ceased completely, otherwise any incoming new owner would simply be buying the shares from the previous owner, nothing to do with player or backroom staff who are contracted to Salford. If the new owners don't want certain staff members then an agreement would need to be reached whereby a redundancy package is put together for that individual, usually resulting in the outgoing owner paying it and then of course the position is made rudundant and usually cannot be filled. The legislation is dealt with under the Tupe agreement.
I hope this clarifys it for you matey and yes i will allow you to buy me a beer or two at the Xmas do.

Ask DFS
Back on topic... Sadler normally has an insider (at the RFL I'd guess) and knows things generally before the public so with him confirming something can only be good news, even if its only "in principle" for now.
He tweeted a takeover of Bradford was agreed about a week before it went to press as "official". Even his own paper, LE only reported speculation at the time when he bloody well knew!

| John Wilkinson should be given a position like 'executive president'... where he can enjoy the perks of the best seat in the house and sitting with his feet up watching Salford hopefully move forward... His service absolutely deserves that... but as for being part of the running of the club, it's best left to new people to do that. Time to hopefully turn over a new page and begin a new chapter... however that may turn out. For the sake of the Chairman's health he needs to lose the stress of running a club like Salford.

| Look, there is no doubt that JW has kept the club alive and I guess the financial commitment is massively different to what he envisaged when he bought the club from Brian Snape.
I hope his reputation remains high despite the winding up order etc.
I think it's really important that he has no ongoing role if ownership changes. If its just a capital injection, that's different.
New owners should have a new message and a new figurehead.

| This may not be news as I haven't read the thread, but the players haven't been paid by the club and the RFL are close to sorting something out for them for this pay period.
