| Red League - If you`ve have watched the game for a number of years you will know Nobby`s style. Get bigger forwards than the opposition - wear them out up the middle - Have a good kicker to apply the big up and unders on the last tackle, etc etc. As a player he was a good scooter from dummy half and rarely parted. Sure he wins but its not the Rugby I want to see but I will put up with winning Trophies over the course of his tenure! Just hope he doesnt forget to bring on our young talent.
My question to all the Noblefiles out there is why has Nobby been unemployed for nigh on 3 years?
As for Lance - well a comment `par for the course`. In every bunch of roses there is always a prick.

| Whilst Bradford won plenty of Trophies their whole style of Rugby bored me to tears.
Big bruising forwards and backs who drove to the line and normally got it out wide for one of their huge wingers to score.
I do not think this style will work nowadays and that is the problem, Noble is old school and loath to change.

| Is this the same Bradford Bulls that put 17 tries past us a few year back? No seriously I can understand where some posters are coming from. I do think there is a difference though between playing a physical style if you can afford to bring in size and quality, unlike McRae's adopted percentage game to accommodate a poor to average bunch of players and some youngsters.

Are you joking? Every top team play the same way. All the years St Helen's dominated yes they had long and tommy martyn who were decent with ball in hand, but the rest of the team was huge and used here weight to dominate the opposition pack. Same with Wigan, Leeds and now Warrington, all have big teams who smash through the opposition then when the forwards have done the damage the little guys and BIG centres and wingers run wild.
Look at Huddersfield now there just a carbon copy of the Bulls and it isn't doing them any harm what so ever.
And "you will put up with winning trophies" since when did Salford fans become arrogant? I just can't believe some of the rubbish people have come out with? And just because the Bulls played a certain way it doesn't mean noble will play the same way with us? He played that way at Bradford because that was to the players strengths who played there. If he brings any trophies to Salford he will go down as a club legend!

Because imo he wanted to take some time out and couldn't get back in when he was ready.
Reaily in traditional salford style after so much time out of the game its his last chance to prove he still has the magic / processes to create a successful team, his greatest challenge to date imo
I have no worries about him being left behind in regards what practices are working and what isnt in the world of rugby league coaching he states in his book he regularly keeps tabs on developments in coaching in all different types of sports including rugby from all different coaches
If Noble can build a large pack with go forward and keep our current backs we would be a shoe in for the 8 definitely, possible 6 injuries permitting

| Think that a different scenario in the backs is on the cards to what we all remember at the bulls.
With Williams and Broughton we have sheer pace not brute force along with Gleeson who looks like he still has plenty of magic, what I wouldn't give to see Moon playing for us still with a huge pack to give the backs a platform.
Think if we started off next season with three props in the Griffin mould we would be very intimidating down the middle and throw in a good skill #13 and there's the beginnings of a very competitive team indeed.

| I was 13 when I watched Salford at Wembley. I just want to go again while I have still got my marbles. I went on regular rugby weekend trips to wembley and watched teams like Featherstone and Widnes and Sheffield get there. So before we start talking about playing champagne rugby lets get a winning mentality put in place and put something in the trophy cabinet. The rest will follow ( crowds etc ).

| I'm not a Noble-Phile, but need to point out the following
Quote Red League - If you`ve have watched the game for a number of years you will know Nobby`s style. '"
No we don't :-It was Matthew Elliott who devised the Bulldozer tactics in the late 90's , Noble Succeeded Elliott
, played with more flair , scored far more points and was more successful . a Style Brian Mcdermott is essentially using now at Leeds.
Whilst at Wigan , He brought in Michael Dobson , Pat Richards , Trent Barrett & George Carmont, but also gave debuts to Lee Mossop- Sam Tomkins, Chris Tuson,& Mcilorum
The thrown together Crusaders side , he coached to a top 8 finish , used different tactics , 15 of the 2010 Crusaders Squad is still playing SL , including Jarrod Sammut & Elliot Kear .
Quote My question to all the Noble-philes out there is why has Nobby been unemployed for nigh on 3 years?'"
If you're to believe Noble , he sat out 2011, to recharge his batteries & also look for work in the NRL and bizzarely do research for the Gareth Thomas ' Film ' . In 2012 he passed up opportunities to coach Salford & Castleford , as he had already had his fill of under-funded SL clubs ,and he thought he was worthy of a higher appointment ...He also did some short term coaching at Halifax and his BBC work and wrote his Coaching book .
Quote ="SCR-SeaDiver"I shouldn't think he will make decisions based on viewing cv's or by telephone and as it hasn't been reported he met with anyone other than Noble prior to the last home game it is almost certainly,in my view,a Noble v.Hunte decision.
The 'them' word may refer to who Noble has suggested as assistants et al.'"
[urlhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/mar/28/brian-noble-brian-smith-salford[/url
It has been reported Koukash has met others, the shortlist was 4-5 people according to Ed Farish .
Andy Wilson is convinced Koukash Flew out to Sydney earlier in March to interview Brian Smith . And Salford other two Advisors to Koukash ( Chalmers & Lowe ) are only across the Tasman and could have been in regular contact. - Press & PR has been maximised but only the info they want us to hear , they couldn't keep a lid on a Brian Noble connection with the position, however Loan signings Griffin - & the Howarth- Gaskell swap has happened out of the blue.

Dont agree about Saints who have been entertaining for years nor Warrington indeed. Would agree though re Wigan and currently Huddersfield where crowds are now reaching desperation point. See Ken Davys comment on the Giants Supporters site. Maybe they find the Rugby on offer boring. Red League - I have no quarrel with you I just want to be entertained after the Harrison/McRae Driving Class.

Could also add to that - Why,when Lenagan left London to return to his home club of Wigan, did he assess and decide to approach Kearney and then Maguire to takeover ?
Why,last year, when the man who introduced the Dr to rugby league,Eamonn McManus, sacked Royce Simmons very early into the season - 7 games -did he not approach the avaiable Brian Noble but decided instead to wait for the contracted Nathan Brown ?
Why,when Noble was a consultant at Halifax, where they wanted to improve defensively, did they not show any measureable improvement ?
If Brian Noble got the job of head coach at London, does anyone think that their attendances would show a huge rise ?
Maybe the view of supporters of other clubs may be more insightful and raise spirits.
As the job didn't seem to be advertised the applicants may have been limited.

So you did not go home after the season we got into the play offs being entertained? I know myself in that season, nails were down to the bone. Can't remember of the top of me head but we have a vast majority of fixtures going down to the final hooter and I think we won more than we lost of the "nail biting" fixtures.

| FFS we have not appointed anyone yet. If it's Noble I'd like to think that we'd all get behind him to see what he can do. There's a time and place to discuss whether someone is up to the job and I'm pretty sure it's not before he's actually been employed to do that job. Opinions of fans are just that. Opinions. If you go around just these forums on RLFans you'd get a totally different view on the matter from different fans. Are they right? Are they wrong?
Neither.
You can only judge someone on the results they've had in the job they are doing. Not the job they've done in the past. Can we all calm down a bit and just be glad that we are able to attract big names to the position considering we thought our Club wouldn't exist at the end of last year.

| I think Noble, like many of the students of Brian Smith (which include mick potter and daniel anderson), are limited coaches in that they do concentrate on a quick play the ball without much of a plan B.
However, he's one of those coaches that I think is great at getting you away from the foot of the table. He may not be the man to put the final pieces in a clubs jigsaw to win trophies (see the difference in Wigan when he was replaced by McGuire), but in terms of getting your club moving in the right direction, he (at least before his sabatical from the sport) is a decent choice.

| Does anyone actually know what the 'business trip' the good doctor is reportedly on in Dubai, is all about?
Seems an odd time to be off talking horses or training courses when you reckon you are ready to announce the new coaching set up of the "soon-to-be-country's-richest-club".
Does anyone else find it coincidental that Dubai is regularly used as a half-way stop-off for people travelling from Australia to the UK? I trust our vigilant friends at the passport authorities will search his belongings thoroughly on his return into the country, particularly the over-sized cake that could easily accomodate within it someone of, say, Brian Smith's stature...

| At the moment, most of the racing attention in this country is focused on jump racing; the good Doctor prefers flat racing so is probably looking after his source of income where this type of racing is more important.
I keep pinching myself that, after the heady days of McRae and Parrish, and remembering the days when Christmas was promising gloom and doom, we can argue over which top coach we can choose.
We're talking less than 15 weeks.

| In all fairness it's a massive decision, probably Koukash most important one he'll ever make as Salford chairman as it will ultimately shape our next 3 years. You can't blame him for taking his time, particularly with Hunte and Long performing so well and this season being considered amongst most as a write off.
There's no doubt we'll know in the next week or so, as they're probably targeting the home game v Hull FC as the new coaches first game.
I'll be annoyed if its Noble after all this though as he could have been appointed last week.

Perhaps Doctor Koukash should sleep on it for another month before putting us out of our misery.
Why not make the recruitment process like an American presidential campaign, with months of canvassing around the wards of Salford and a live 'head to head' debate between the candidates? It could be shown live on Sky Sports .

| Think it's pretty much nailed on to be Noble, what I do think has been going on behind the scenes is more recruiting to allow the Doc to announce his new head coach and additions to the playing staff at the same time.
I thought the piece in the Manchester Evening Comic having a pop at the Doc for not making an appointment was dire reporting as surely getting this right is the most important bit of recruitment for many years. Maybe NB is worried that a new more professionally run Salford will highlight some of his (OK all of them) less professional attributes as a journalist.

He's gone to U.A.E. to check under his mattress the cash is still there
Koukash isn't scared of making decisions , there's been plenty of decisive changes visible around the club . pretty much all of them good.
[url=http://www1.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/12207/8580336/Salford-owner-Marwan-Koukash-wants-Brian-Noble-as-his-next-head-coachI think the decision was made weeks ago[/url, and the announcement has been delayed until the arrival of Koukash and his fellow directors so they can have a proper PR day .
' The Circus doesn't come to town without the ringmaster '
Quote No announcement is expected until director Andrew Chalmers and director of rugby Graham Lowe arrive back from New Zealand in mid-April.'"
There will have to have been ' due diligence ' re chances in Backroom staff ( Hunte- Long ) to make sure they're appraised of the new set up and on board, and time for other backroom appointment/s to be targeted , maybe they've even checked there isn't a copy of Mein Kampf in amongst the Wayne Bennett & Jack Gibson Biographies on the incoming coach's bookshelf.
There's also been some springcleaning going on on the playing roster , and probably more to come . As rightfully mentioned these will have been Ok'd by Hunte as Interim Coach and accepted by the new guy , possibly initiated.
the Dr said he wanted to sit down with the intended new coach and identify potential signings as part of the interview process.
Any time I get annoyed by the Dr 's way of operating , I remember how I felt back at St Thomas's back in December... he can take as long as he likes.
