| Whinge whinge whinge. All you ever hear is people moaning because the club don't do everything people want. I'll start whingeing because they don't do a bus from Walkden/ boothstown area. Which is much further away than bloody irlam!

| Think the pretty obvious reasoning behind the new route is that the bus passed Eccles (and did occasionally pick up supporters from bus stops anyway) and Unicorn on the route it already takes and the pick up at the train station is a brilliant move to allow fans from other clubs to get a train in.

But Barton is quite a lot further from Weaste than the Willows is, hence the bus for those who used to walk to the ground
And Barton is a lot closer to Cadishead than the Willows was. I don't remember anyone asking for a special bus from Irlam and Cadishead to the Willows when I lived there and used to get the number 10.
This is a good move, esp stopping at the stations as someone said above but well done for finding the negative in it

| The 67s run about every 15 minutes up until about 8 I think, then every half an hour, making it easy enough for anyone in Irlam or Cadishead to get to the stadium. Getting back is easy enough too with a bus usually coming just after the match has finished, then one after 10 - which gives plenty of time if people are getting the last train from Irlam, in either direction.

Whilst I know you're joking, you have a point. I'm yet to break 50 minutes for my public transport journey time from Walkden. It only took me an hour from Hollingworth Lake to the Willows!
I know there's a fair sized contingent in the Walkden area who would surely benefit from a direct bus service. AND, I'd happily pay a couple of quid for it. Well, it beats the £4.50 for a daysaver that only gets me as far as Patricroft Bridge (It's quicker to walk from there than wait for the 67, before anyone suggests it).

Correct but Im presuming he must want a door to door service
I thought the shuttle service was there primarily to offer transport to fans who live close to the Willows and to try and take pressure off the roads around the motorway roundabout on Liverpool Road. As far as Im aware there are no congestion issues travelling from Irlam and Cadishead??

The club run services, that is correct. Are you suggesting the club runs its own transport network that takes in every town/village where supporters are based!!
This is a recurring theme every time we discuss the shuttle bus. In my opinion we dont need to spend money on a bus to Irlam/Cadishead. There is no significant congestion from that direction and we have a regular bus service (67). Im sure a few of you could club together a couple of pound each and invest in a taxi if you needed to. People managed to get to the Willows so whats the big issue now the stadiums on your door step?

| The shuttle bus idea was brought forward to help out all those who had for years been able to walk to the Willows and watch Salford. I've driven to games for years , as have many others. Not at any time when the shuttle bus service was announced did I think " ooooo that's unfair why do they get special treatment? I want a shuttle bus service as well"
Yet for some reason the only people who seem to be moaning about it are those from Irlam/Cadishead. Despite the fact that they now live closer to the rugby than ever before and have a nice easy traffic jam free public service to get them there. They could also walk it should they wish.
Perhaps SJW should personally pick them all up prior to the game FFS!

I think point isn't necessarily based simply on the time taken, but that it takes 50 minutes to do what is less than 4 miles as the crow flies.

I think what Gav is getting at is how close he is to the ground compared to the time it physically takes.
It wouldn't surprise me if it worked out faster for you to get from Preston to the ground if distance against time was worked out.
You could always go and watch your closest team instaed of Salford you whingeing ginger git

That's fair enough, but if we're going to take my large slice of sarcasm as the start of a serious discussion, surely that's more of an issue for GMPTE or the railway companies rather than something that Salford or the Stadium Company should be looking to solve? Otherwise you'd expect them to end up having to put direct buses on from most of Salford. Where does it stop?
And my closest professional (or even semi-pro) team would be, to the best of my knowledge, Wigan. F**k that.

| As Iain and Fungus point out on my behalf, a journey of 50 minutes when in such close proximity is excessive to say the least. And, as I've said, I'd be happy to pay for a more direct service, especially if it undercut the exorbitant First Bus daysaver fare. (Dear whomever controls the shuttle bus; potential profits are perhaps to be made in Walkden).
