| 31 Years of age for a prop is the right age, give him 2 years and see what is needed after that.
Would be brilliant signing for me and add to what is turning into a pretty solid and mobile pack.

| Played in all but one game for Newcastle this season and their top metre making forward.
I think it would be a good signing. While our younger forwards have stepped up this season, we've not really made up for Stapleton's departure and this would definitely go some way to filling that void.

Hes contracted, and Swain has been offered a new deal. Which means Mark Henry could be on his way out

| So, it would seem that there's a chance of having Ross, Cashmere, Henry and Swain in the same team... Sounds good to me!

Cross not Ross!
Ben Ross is an even bigger injury concern than Cross. He might not even play rugby league again! (I wonder if this means we're going to sign him... )

| I'm sure he would add something to our pack but personally I see the back row as the area that needs strengthening most.
Another concern for me is his age. It just frustrates me when any super league club offers a big contract to an overseas player that is over 30 years of age. It's become the norm for an agent of an aging NRL player to turn to England when his player is no longer able to command top dollar in Australia. To my knowledge there is now in the region of 45 overseas players in Super League (13.5% of all players) that are over 30 years old!!
Until 'all British clubs' get into the same mindset about long term development taking priority over short term success then our game will never catch up in my opinion. Rant over!!

I'd move Sidlow to 2nd row. We could have a decent pack next season with the starting props of Cashmere and Cross, Back rowers Adamson, Sidlow and Swain

What happens if Sidlow or Adamson get injured, where is the depth??? I'd be surprised if Littler or Sibbitt are still with us next year!!

| To be fair as I pointed out on another thread, Prop's don't really reach their peak until they're around 27/28 and from then until about 34 are the best years, they've matured and learnt the craft of what a props role is so for me he's at an ideal age. I understand the idea of bringing British players through but it's tougher for young props and if you have some experience to learn from then it'll do you the world of good. Look at our props for next year (should we keep them);
Cashmere – 30
Parker – 28
Jewitt – 23
Sidlow – 22
Boyle – 22
Wood – about 19
Another experienced Prop (and hopefully second rower) would be ideal.

We do have Parker, but I do agree that we need another second rower. Someone who is dangerous going forward. Adamson looked like he was improving in that respect but he seems to have gone backwards in attack this season.

| Sorry for me Cross is a prop and Parker is a 2nd row.
Think we need to concentrate less on spelling the props as I seem to recall that Cashmere was a 60 minute man before he arrived with us. i've often wondered if in the realyl hot weather haveing maybe 3 out of the fore front and 2nd rowers as dedicated 2nd rowers what with Sidlows youth and speed that would be a pretty devistating combination for me.
I for one will be extremely happy if Ross is signed and Jeremy Smith is released, nothing personal against the lad but he hasnt been worth his qouta spot so i'd like to see someone of real class brought in as a replacement.
Though does conjure up the question who is coming as a hooker?? I have a sneeky suspicion that Higham could be back on the radar and that would be an incredibly significant signing and a real statement of intent as to the brand of rugby we would be playing.

| Presume we're not talking about the guy in Chariots of Fire?
Reserve judgement on the guy until I've seen him play .. 31 is no age for a decent prop as long as he's fit .

| As ever MEN/Neil Barker get it wrong again...
Whilst it is a good news story, he plays for the Knights, not the Storm....
