I take my two children aged 2 & 6 without a problem and I live 40 miles away. They sit perfectly throughout the game and get fully involved in all the singing and shouting. They love it!! It comes down to introducing them to it very early so they are now used to it whatever the day the game is on. I put them in their PJs in the car, they fall asleep on the journey home and are transferred into bed, no worries.

This debate will always centre around what your own personal preferences are. If it is that important to you, you will go whenever. There will always be some who work on fridays and some on sundays, some who have that kids play on sundays and those that go to do summer things like picnics, clashes with football/ cricket.

It is simply really, win and market it right and they will come. Lose every other week and they will continue to be ambivalent towards the club.

I have done, switch to staurday 3pm when the football season finishes :p

People working 2/10 shifts and night shifts are in numbers are nearly on par with people who work 9/5 shifts nowerdays, my brother who has been a fan for over 20 years can't go due to work commitments and as I've said before earlier in the thread another 9 people who I know would love to come cant due to working hours. Sat or Sundays would be the way forward for a fresh new and returning fan base.

I think you are forgetting that a lot of lapsed Salford fans are probably also United/City fans, so if they had to choose between the two sports I think the majority would side with the footy and a few pints in the pub. Friday is the only night of the week where there's hardly any football on the TV or played live.

I'm not saying that our biggest issue is a power struggle between RL and football - it's just one more thing thats worth consideration.

The same could be said for working weekends though could it not? My other half who is a season ticket holder works every other sunday so staright away we would then lose one fan to accomodate another. The way in which the country functions has altered significantly in the last 20 years. In the early 90's Sundays worked really well for the club as no shops opened, football only showed the super sunday 4pm game and there was far less of utd and city shown. People didn't have that much to occupy them as they do now.

We are facing the whole of a sociatal change to try and compete with getting crowds back in. We are also in the middle of the worst recession this country has seen and it all goes agsinst us. As i said previously, you get the product right on the pitch with a competative team, get the name of the club back in the thoughts of people in the area and the numbers will increase no matter what day of the weekend we play. The last 10 years though we have gone backwards in terms of the on-field product. We have left a residential area which must have pulled a significant number of walk up customers compared to now where the majority of former Willows goers cannot commute to easily and the local residents probably have no interest in the game. Great PR is what we need as Sale have shown it can be done.

Bang on. If somebody wants to go to a game, they'll make sure they are free. They'll swap shifts. They'll phone in sick. The kids will sleep in the car. Previous numbers, feedback and even this thread has proved that the difference between Friday, Saturday and Sunday is subjective.



I'm not sure about this. You can get to the ground easy enough. I still live in Weaste and very few people seem to be getting the buses. Either they must be getting taxis, driving up or have sacked it off. Most of the local people I spoke to who said the ground move was a travesty were people who never went in the first place.
