The North American Rugby League wants to hear from you.

NRL players will be targeted by a new American professional rugby league competition which will feature 14 teams across the country backed by annual grants worth a combined $4.2 million.

The North American Rugby League was launched early on Thursday in the US.

Two teams will be based out of Canada — the Ottawa Aces and Toronto Wolfpack.

$120,000 is only £87,000 which doesn't buy top level NRL players, I expect that figure will rise year on year as the comp grows.

This is what most Brits have pointed to as the way to go for years, a domestic comp in North America so there's really no need to knock it !

To be honest the opening post is from an Aussie paper. Not sure these clubs can afford to waste $120k out of a budget of $300k at present. Yes further down the line ( funding wise) sponsors, stream monies they will probably look at recruiting some Aussie’s. They have no need for top NRL players. Just probably any calibre of player.

looks a bit unbalanced teams in usa play 10 games while the canadians play 2 before the play offs, is this so they can rustle round to get some players in before hand,

anyway good luck to them hope it works over there

Covid restrictions mean the clubs cannot travel across the border, so the 2 Canadian teams will just play a couple of games this year but join in fully next season.
