Not sure whether we are actively seeking a HB but I must say most the best Aussies we’ve had have been utter nobodies. ? Benson found playing for fun for was it Sharlstone? JD had no NRL and no SL as far as I recall, ditto Obst and loads of others.

If we do need a saviour I have to be honest that’s where I’d be looking. Truth is there aren't many HBs about these days not even in the NRL, so this idea that we can go out and sign some quality Aussie is a bit of a myth.

Personally I’d go with Jowitt, at least for another six games, what have we got to lose. Nows the time to find the true worth of young players. Jowitt, Croft, Crowther, Batchelor and the rest I’d ply them as heavily as I dare, ready for next year when hard choices will need to be made.

I’m not usually a believer in playing the youngsters, it such a ludicrous knee jerk reaction. However if there ever was a time this is it, especially in Jowitts case. For heavens sake either give the lad a go or let him go, as I too am beginning to think his treatment unfair. If we don’t want him let him go to someone who does.

What's happened to Connor Bailey...before lockdown when Brough was injured people were crying out for him to be put in yet now when there's no relegation & it would make sense to give him an extended run for him to find his SL feet in time for next year there isn't a peep

I also agree with a previous comment, may have been on another thread, that said play Croft inside Tupou...regardless of whether he's up against Folau or not

He’s very young, who am I to argue against him but it’s a lot to ask for such a young player.

My issue at the moment is not that we are a losing team but an underperforming one. Young players can have a positive effect on a team that’s losing but trying. A team that is playing well below par and has been for twelve month then you’re really not being fair to them.

I understand what you're saying but that's an ideal world scenario for blooding young players - unless we play him we won't know how he'll go.

I remember after administration a few years back we had no choice but to play youngsters as the vultures (esp Shudds) descended on our better players and they did ok in the most part (stayed up) but at least they were 100% committed every game. That sort of energy and no fear willingness to have a go can be infectious and god knows we need some inspiration from somewhere.

Years back promising halves often debuted on the wing (eg. Toppo) to see if they could handle the move up in game pace & quality and whilst so much more is asked of wingers these days it may still be an option.

All I'm saying is that pre-lockdown there was a big shout for him to play which has gone very quiet & I can't understand why

I wouldn’t mind it if we did take a punt on Wallace to be honest. He’s gone ok everytime I’ve see him. Although, I think I’d prefer to give Bailey, Jowitt and Rocky extended runs.

If we were to dip into the transfer market next year there doesn’t appear to be too much options? I had a quick scan through the out of contract players in SL/NRL and the only real two apart from Green and Marshall that I picked out were Dec Patton and Drew Hutchison.

Patton - He’s never really fulfilled his potential and hasn’t even played in the halves that much recently. I can’t remember seeing much from him but he probably possesses a better kicking game than those we have now? I remember Brough talking in an article about him, basically challenging him to leave Warrington to save his career!

Hutchison - Dont really know too much about him other than he played at Leigh and did ok for them. I think he’s playing for the Roosters this week in Keary’s absence so I’ll take note. He’s off contract this year but Trent Robinson obviously sees something in him to take him from Leigh.

Green/Marshall - Probably out of our price range and would they even want to come?

One things for sure it won’t even matter which halfbacks we have unless the pack can sort themselves out. I really do hope they give Jowitt, Bailey and Hampshire a run of at least 4/5 games each!

Would it not be better to sign one player with a proven record who can run the game .

It,a ok to sign one player who can run the game than many average players .,the thing is they come to wakey and with the set up they look average

If you mean this season then I’m baffled as when the signings were made nobody knew there would be no relegation! Your point makes no sense.

If you mean next season, well maybe assuming there is no relegation. However you could argue that we blood young players.
