Basically its as I said earlier.
London Broncos were in financial strife.
They were bailed out by the chairman and the financial controller of the RFL after brokering a deal between various people.

Well what happened was this.....
London Broncos ran out of money.
Probably the fact they were pretty bad and hardly anyone turned up to watch had a lot to do with it.
So in order to survive they got the RFL involved.
They managed to get the Rugby Football League's executive chairman Richard Lewis and his financial controller Nigel Wood to bail them out by persuading at least six of the other 11 Superleague clubs to support the clubs top idea of making themselves bankrupt thereby discharging all their £3 million debts.
Now we have 'Harlequins RL'
A great side who pull in massive crowds every week and are regularly competing for the challenge cup and are one of the top 2 teams in the whole wide world
Thats about it in a nutshell.

No...what was said in this article
1. The Broncos seemed to be heading for extinction for most of the day, with huge reluctance among their Super League rivals . This is actually supposition. Unless of course Andy Wilson was going to name names, he decided to get a little creative and in a court of Law....would get ripped to shreds!
2. But with the backing of the Rugby Football League's executive chairman Richard Lewis and his financial controller Nigel Wood, the London club's chief executive Nic Cartwright persuaded at least six of the other 11 clubs to support the club's plan during a four-hour meeting at the Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield. . so, the RFL didn't bail us out. They helped NC convince 6 other clubs to let us stay in. Still no bail out as I can see......let's read on shall we.
3. The Broncos were so close to the brink that an approach was made to Castleford, who were relegated from the Super League last season, about the possibility of returning to take London's placeMmmm....at this point, I think Andy needed to put the cap back on his marker pen. Firstly the RFL were bailing us out. Now they were getting cas ready to step in....make your mind up lad....but wait...there's more...
4. But a majority of the clubs have put the retention of a London presence ahead of the potentially dangerous precedent that the Broncos' financial manoeuvres will set. . So...it was the clubs that voted us back in. There was me thinking it was the RFL
So cobber...I am still waiting for a Linky Linky that contains cold hard facts and not journalistic supposition.

Gutterfax has convered most of it.
And according to the article, they were also asked to put up a significant bond - with financial conditions imposed on them.
So, not bailing out in any conventional interpretation of the term.

Rugby League needs to expand to survive long term as most other sports are going from strength so we need to follow suit.

Now....just so we're clear here.
Because an article, that essentially is 90% supposition appears in The Guardian....that makes it 100% fact does it? Mmm...Interesting concept that.
I actually read the Telegraph....but for what it's worth, the are are some great T1Ts in the Sport....massive....no really huge, but none as big as you. Regardless of what you THINK went on in 2005 between the SL chairmen, lewis and the broncos....you can't (AND I HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED FOR THIS) provide 1 link that backs up your assertion that we were bailed out.
Even when you try to be clever by posting things like:
Quote ="Barry_McKenzie"London Broncos were in financial strife.
They were bailed out by the chairman and the financial controller of the RFL after brokering a deal between various people.'"
...which is an obvious and clumsy attempt to use the word financial and bail to imply that we were "bailed out"
As for being owned....PMSL...no really.....PMSL....
You can't win this argument.....no matter how many times you post supposition, you aren't posting fact and fact will always win an argument.
Back atcha sport

So what do you want shouild we just give up & let the game die? The moment the game went full time pro in Australia (because it had the support as the number one sport) the rest of the world went to hell no longer would a team of semi pro players from France be able to win a test series Against the mighty Kangaroos. In the 60s & 70s semi pro players from clubs in the UK playing to similar crowds as they do today could hold thier own & often bettered the Aussies but since we have had to compete with fulltime players it has been a struggle as in the first few years we lost older players who had good jobs & would not give them up for a couple of years full time pay. Being a full time pro sportsman in the UK has never untill now be something to aspire to, the schools system would certainly not promote sport as a carreer so we have nearly thirty years to catch up with the southern hemisphere & I would not look to them to help as they are self promoting head in the sand zenophobes who dont even realise there is a world outside of the Sydney leagues & would not care if they did know. As for the good people of Driffield watching Rules I bet they would, but not week in week out as it would take a couple of generations for it to enter the local culture which is what is hapening slowly in London & that is why we have to keep on trying in non traditional areas other wise we will be swamped by soccer & Union.

Quins problem is marketing and that's it.
They need a huge marketing drive
:3cqju9rwCeltic need a big backer, better facilities, and a team that can compete. it's their 1st season ffs:3cqju9rw
:3cqju9rwCatalans are fine and im glad they are part of SL and i hope we start to see Toulouse in SL too.[/
Yes Celtic need a richer sugar daddy , a better ground and a better team , makes you wonder how they managed to get a franchise without them
Catalans have done excellent and I hope to see Warrington in the Championships too

Try reading the original post properly and it might spare you from embarrassing yourself in front of the board in future.
If you cant see how the RFL bailed your sorry excuse for a club out then you really are incredibly stupid.
This thread is not purely about London RL.
If you want to discuss London then it might be best to stick to your own forum.

'Bailed out' doesnt necessarily involve directly giving someone money.
I don't care if I'm still banned from the Quins board or not.

In the context of a financial meltdown, such as the former Broncos underwent, then it certainly [idoes[/i mean financial help. You know this, but you're desperately trying to twist the term to somehow come out of this looking like you're not just blathering on.
From the ever-dubious Wikipedia: [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailout[iA bailout is an act of giving capital to a failing company in order to save it from bankruptcy, insolvency, or total liquidation and ruin[/i[/url
[url=http://www.forbes.com/2008/09/26/bailout-congress-bush-biz-beltway-cx_bw_0926bailout2.htmlHere's an example from Forbes using just that term, where it's quite clear it means a financial rescue package[/url[url=http://financial-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/bailout.[/url

| Have I gone back in time or something. I thought I switched the flux capacitor off last night?!?!
The arguement has been and gone. The game needs to expand for many reasons. Wales and London are good places to expand to with volume of potential speccies, players and sponsors.
South of France is just as crazy for Rugby League as North England so why kick them out. They are doing well, it's helping French rugby which will ultimately help us.
What's the big deal anyway. If Widnes or anyone else is good enough bring them in. Why target someone else just because they are not you?
Same post has been discussed about Wakefield and Cas....blah blah

| In answer to the quesion to this post, it will never happen resons why:
Harlequins will never be thrown out cos Sky will pull the plug if there is not a Super League team in London.
You have to have a token Welsh/French team in because hey they would do the same in every other sport in the world and then relegate the team that does not actually finish bottom or is it just Rugbt League??
They need to find more ways of making this sport more embarrassing than it already is at the moment.
