Leeds can't drop down. They're the elite. The cream. What an absurd suggestion that Leeds would muddy a stud on any Championship cow field. The Challenge Cup is bad enough. Off with your head for suggesting such a thing. Jamie sits amongst the Gods. Like Zeus, he can pass comment on mere mortals without ever having to suffer the fate of a decision which he thinks should be made.

| I don't agree with his 10-team suggestion, the game needs to spread in this country.
At the moment we (UK rugby league) are still growing into a 14 team league - standards, as always, need to rise so SL teams are hitting the benchmarks set by their Aus/NZ counterparts. Two years before the next World Cup, the number of overseas trained players per club will fall to 5 (from 10 in 200icon_cool.gif and clubs will be required to have 8 home grown and 12 UK-trained players in their 25-man squads.
The size of the league definitely [ishouldn't[/i be expanded to 16 before the WC because I doubt the league would be able to do that and increase the intensity of matches across the board to something approaching NRL levels.

That was really witty tbf
It would make the games much more intense, NRL like however it would prove RL to be the minority sport it is.

So, might as well have it as the intensity of the NRL. Make it squeeky clean elite. Weed out the damp as well as the dry rot.

| That would be some comp. I just think some of the other teams could offer more in a few years.
We're seeing some positive steps from Huddersfield and I don't believe the doom mongering around Hull Kr, if they can get that debt under control over the next couple of years and I believe they will they could be a force
However, I still think we're heading to a 2 conference system and feeder league

but by cutting the numbers and making more money available to the elite teams... it doesnt matter where they are you could just create 10 elite teams and pay for elite marketing and sales teams to bring in the crowds... therefore it makes sense to chose the clubs based on the stadia available to play in...
so
1) Manchester Red Deyvils (playing at Old Trafford) basically the Saints/Wigan/Warrington and Salford squads... relocated
2) Glasgow Kilts (playing at Ibrox) Brisbane Broncos relocated
3) Newcastle Coals (playing at St James Park) Hull & KR relocated
4) Birmingham Backstabbers (playing at Villa Park) Wakefield/ Cas & Hudds relocated
5) North London Limpets (playing at White Hart Lane) Harlequins london broncos by any other name
6) Chelsea Boots (playing at Stamford Bridge) the best players from anywhere in the world (typical Chelsea)
7) France... (playing in France... or northern Spain sometimes)
the French national team - no need for relocation
Wales (playing in Colwyn Bay) the Welsh National RU team playing off season to keep fit
9) A Token Traditional RL: Team... (playing in a dump somewhere on the M62 corridor) made up of 65% australian imports on British Passports
10) Wellington Whales (playing on the beach) full of maori scary people... not many away fans!
seriously though I think we can begin to expand the game but I think we should look at the American Footbal conferencing system as a model.. and that would help with making the play offs [u THE [/umajor focus of our season....

| I agree with Mr Peacock and wish to take his ideas further.
I am trying to get a meeting with my boss to see if this initiative can be transposed into my work.
Deal with less customers: the competition in getting through to me will remove those obviously less fit to receive any money.
More wages as I deserve it.
A shorter year and longer time-off. I will keep fit by talking and practising keyboard skills in my off-work days.
You do not have to wish me lick as , following Mr peacock's premise, I am more important than the paying fans ... sorry .. public.

Excellent idea Littlerich - Prehaps the RFL could then bring in the club call into every round of the fixtures. No that would be exciting.

| Stick to playing, Jamie! Clearly when it comes to the business side of sport you don't really have a clue unfortunately!
How the hell he has come up with less games and more money without thinking "how?" I have no idea! The think is, I can imagine the interview now!
I do agree that it would be more intense, and less games would be better for players, but until you can find a way to finance it then there is no point in asking for it. It's as effective as me asking for a helicopter!

| The only way to make it financially viable for players to play less games is to put a cap on the number of games they can play in the league. You can't reduce the games, we need the money.
We also need to think of other ways of getting TV money. Can we reduce SL fixtures and introduce another/reinvent an old competition(s) to sell to broadcasters?

| IMO for what its worth, i think 14 teams in super league is spot on, scrap the joke of millenium/murrayfield weekend, 26 league games in total. if u happen to be involved with a club who does'nt make play offs and say gets knocked out challenge cup early the season is 7 months max, if u happen to be involved with club who is successful the season is 8 months max with maybe no weeks break for cc cup. for the certain players who are good enough to be an international granted it can be a long season, but in my eyes its a small price to pay for being successful.

i presume he is thinking that a competition with less teams will result in a stronger, more competitive and better competition that broadcasters and sponsors will be falling over themselves to invest money into. a bit like the NFL - less teams, less games, but higher profile and more money.

| You can do it but it just means theres more clubs in championship struggling to survive winning team or not you still wont get great crowds in the championship because there nowt to play for.
The more teams in the top league the better means more clubs get more money instead of 10 teams getting all the money and championship clubs getting vitually nowt. You cant really say salford wasnt competetive last year they beat us saints and few more top 6 clubs celtic was the problem, you do get the odd blow out scores but you get that in football too which is supposed to have the best talent looking at the squads this year they look a lot better than last think it'll be a gd league.
