Quite possibly the most uninspiring debut from a marquee player in history. I said when he signed his body was shot. Everyone in Aus knew this was the case. Why Wigan decided to pay so much for him I have no idea.

To be fair Burgess is carrying an injury and is clearly not 100%, he looked shot after about 4 minutes in. He won't be a world beater at Wigan but when fit he will make a difference for them.

Its still very concerning the shape he looks in. Looks like his beat eating in the off season and not doing anything else.

I’m still scratching my head about the “charge down”. I’m not saying it was the most important decision but it was certainly the most baffling.

Whilst O'Loughlin and Isa are still getting away with the same as they have for over a decade the game will not change. Wigan look coached to cheat. Hill has a reputation for being a thug.

I don't know the exact ruling on when it changes from a charge down to a knock on, but I can see the argument for both tbh.

This is a bit harsh. I thought it was a very enjoyable game, the cards opened up the play and it was pretty end to end stuff for a lot of the match. You'll certainly see much worse games over the course of the season than last night's.

I must admit, even as a Wigan fan I found that one baffling to say the least. One of several in the game.

I was always under the impression that to charge down your arms must me held out straight above shoulder height?

if the ball is on an upwards trajectory from a kick, then it is a charge down - regardless of how the arms are. If it is on a downwards trajectory, then it is a knock on.

So technically it was a charge down last night - even though most people watching it wouldn't say so.

Certainly not a terrible game (very exciting actually) but some pretty terrible skill levels on show at times, particularly Wigan.

Bit disappointed in Hastings - sharp in patches but should be creating much more against 12 men.

I always thought that leading with the elbow deliberately into a players head was a big no no...seems not. Wires must have missed that memo....time to instruct our players to aim for the throat in every tackle.

to suggest i walk away because it was a dour game is the reason why RL struggles, there was NO entertainment lqst night, you could have had a shot clock on how long it would take OLoughlin to get up after a tackelt or how far Austin could spit his dummy.

At that vintage I would’ve thought you realised that a game doesn’t have to be a pointathon to be exciting, but I accept I’m not going to change your opinion on what constitutes “exciting “ any more than you will mine.

I don't find O'loughlin laying on the same way he has for his entire career, cheap shots from both sides, poor refereeing, constant offsides and a lack of finesse exciting.

But the Saints game was boring because it was so one sided, hopefully the Leeds v Hull game will be a decent match, I don't know what to expect from Toronto v Cas, we will know by 6pm tonight if there has been anything to get excited about, but it is very early days.
