But whereas most have the odd blemish in the whole of their career Mr Hardaker seems to be racking up quite a rap sheet.

This is someone who plays for a Premier S.L club & an International to boot. Nobody can doubt his talent, but excelling at the sport whilst acting like a total idiot is not mutually inclusive.

Hope that Hardaker dosn't go the way of other RL "miscreants", he is too good a player, but sadly it's happened before and quite recently.

I think there are too many accusers for Saville to be innocent but in the eyes of the law he is innocent as he has not been on trial.

I'm guessing this is his last chance at Leeds.
If he steps out of line again i think he will be gone.
The problem for him is finding a club that will take a chance on him with his past history.
Lets finish on a positive and say that Zak Hardacker will now tow the line and become a fine upstanding citizen.

His contract expires in 2016. I assume that the Leeds' decision to offer him new terms will depend on the attitude he displays during the next 9-12 months or so.

Once he's failed a drug test, served a two-year ban and then assaulted a referee we can throw that comparison around.

No he just assaults students.

Every club in SL and probably a few in the NRL would 'take a chance on him' - which may be part of his problem. He's an electrifyingly good player who has been quickly elevated from Fev Lions to celebrity status, albeit in the relatively small and niche environment of RL. That's probably a difficult transition for a young lad, who may have sacrificed some of the more academic aspects of his education in favour of sporting achievement...

For what it's worth, this looks to have been well handled by the club - the police have chosen not to pursue the matter, but Leeds have followed their own internal disciplinary process and sanctioned him accordingly; Uncle Brian has been more candid than he needed to be with his press statements, but that could be designed to heap some public shame on top of the sanctions that have already been applied.

Despite the best efforts of some fans of other clubs, there's not much to criticise Leeds for in all of this; plenty to criticise ZH for, but that's a cross he'll have to bear - with great power, and all that jazz.

The Rhinos' actions seem to me to be measured and appropriate. I don't recall people on this forum saying otherwise.

Hardaker, like Hock and many others, is fortunate to have a talent and support, otherwise he, and the others, would probably would have been detained at her majestys pleasure before now.

No they wouldnt. I'm as happy as anyone to have a go at Gareth Hock but theres no way he'd be jailed for anything he's done as most of his indiscretions have been on the pitch and no-one gets sent to jail just for taking some cocaine.

The same applies to Hardaker.

I think he meant without rugby in their lives they could have gone down a different path shall we say, based upon the posters understanding of the two individuals mentioned..dunno about Hardaker but I think Hock would be a good candidate for doing some things that would get him into bother with the law.. I could be completely wrong but he does come across as being a bit of a bezerkoid at times.

TBF you do admit to not being sure about Hardaker which is fair really. Two of his "crimes" were the homophobic insults (one of which he wasn't found guilty off).....off the field, what would calling someone a "f*g" result in? Nothing at all. (Not condoning that btw but be realistic, we pretty much all hear that kind of language weekly at work/pub/match and don't bat an eyelid)

Also his first, breaking McNarama's curfew, silly but not evidence that he'd end up in jail if he wasn't good at rugby.

As a Leeds fan I imagine ppl will see this as me defending him BUT I don't think Hardaker is really a bad lad....just a dumb one who needs to grow up (and possibly will as the years past, if he starts a family that often screws peoples heads on right).

If only the way to solve crime was to get those who break the law to start a family!
Hardaker is an ignorant, egotist. He's made some mistakes as a result. He's learnt something about how not to use abusive language and his ego has been brought down to size as he's been embarrassed by having his misdemeanours scrutinised publicly. If he doesn't mend his ways now he never will.
I think the club have handled it well.
