An Australian calling an English person racist, you lot really don't understand irony do you!
And I must need my head reading as England is a far better country to live in IMO.
As for accents sounding thick, have you been to Queensland .

| Why is everyone whinging? According to 95% of members on here SL is infinitely faster and a quick play-the-ball is our main weapon. Both the NZ and Aus coach are slamming the ref for the slow play the ball. They've just done us a favour, is the only logical conclusion.
"Those damn Aussies, slamming the refs so they speed up the play the ball to.......................... suit our own style of play and put us at an advantage"
Really what we're seeing is the typical English spirit of pre-emptive excuses and conspiracies. The fact is Sheen and Kearney say nothing and everyone is on here whinging about how the Four Nations will be reffed NRL style(even though last night was nothing like an NRL game), but Sheens and Kearney come out and slam the refereeing, which helps us as we all want a fast PTB, and we're complaining still that they have too much influence on international League and should effectively shut up?
This international refereeing tripe is good for nobody. What's amazing is that both SL and NRL fans and coaches want a quick play the ball. Go look at Australian forums, they're effectively holding the same opinion as people here, everyone, NZ, Kiwi and British wants a faster play the ball. Even all the coaches want a faster play the ball. So what the was last night about? Lets see how the England - Wales game goes

| We all want quick PTB's but they should be physically earned by the players in the ruck area, as opposed to being manufactured or gifted by an insistence upon defenders having to release and retreat 10 metres within a split second of executing a tackle.
Quick PTB's should not be an automatic right.

I'd love to live in Australia. Beautiful country. Just one problem. It's full of Australians.
France has the same problem with the French.

I know plenty of people who've moved to Aus, found it's not all it's cracked up to be, and happily moved back home to blighty.

My friend. I have visited Australia and it is a fine country – it has beautiful beaches and natural wildlife and is blessed with a fantastic climate
But... for all the elements that matter to me on a day to day basis – with a richer culture, more history and a diversity of people and places then England is a stand out winner
Australia is a lovely place to visit for a holiday but I would never choose to live there as I would get so bored so quickly

What do you do with your History and Culture that makes your life more enjoyable?
You wake up and look at old buildings and soak up the "history"
I live for what I do each day and rarely think about my ancestors or Captain Cook.
I have been to the North of England I did not see that much "culture" to be honest. There was a culture but it was not a pleasant one.
As Ian Henderson said a couple of years ago.
"[iResidents of a former mining town in West Yorkshire have rotten teeth, spend too much time drinking and need a bath, an international rugby player has said.
In an interview Ian Henderson, a former Bradford Bulls player and New Zealand Warriors hooker, said Castleford was "the worst place" he had lived in.
Mr Henderson said "moving there just kills you" and added people "drank themselves silly".[/i

| australia is a massive country each town and city being different from the other one but there has been many english expats who dont last that long and come flying straight back home. I had the chance to move to Brisbane last summer and didn't want too doesn't mean australia is a crap country just means my personal preferences suited back home then. Now i couldn't see myself leaving the UAE for awhile just loving the standard of living over here. as far as the accents go it all ways makes me laugh how the yanks and aussies have a go about us not speaking proper english or its hard to understand, maybe if we starting say mate more often we could be just like them haha. As far as being racist dont be silly i would say england for the size of it and the amount of different nationalities it is very tolerant to different cultures, if the shoe was on the other foot i couldn't see the locals being very happy. wasn't it Andrew johns who called inglis a black womans virgina and he is still on tv everyweekend as if it just got brushed away.

| Quote ="Keith Swiftcorn"I enjoyed the physical, slowing down, arm-wrestle stuff. I'm sick and tired of watching a diluted tag version of rugby league where easy attacking metres are gained on the back of tiresome dummy half or first receiver scoots, and where defences have to retreat 10m within a nanosecond of executing a tackle after the ref calls 'held'. It's tiresome enough when the attacking team is gifted 10m of territory as a reward for being tackled in the first place! Lockyer and Marshall possess the requisite skills and craft to unlock the tightest and most intense of defences anyhow and actually earn the time and space to work their magic. The fact that they didn't is because neither played well enough on the night.'"
Where as i get bored with teams covering up for poor defence by simply slowing the play the ball down. Its not an arm wrestle its just a slow, tiresome and turgid game. If a team has good defence then the play-the-ball will be sufficiently slowed and the dummy half scoots sufficiently negated as a by product of good defence.
I've never watched a game of RL and thought "you know what this needs, more time when i cant see the ball, and more time with people just laid on the floor instead of running, passing, kicking or tackling".

Precisely. Hopefully today's game removes any doubt that the biggest culprits for slowing the ruck down wear green and gold.

| Quick question did anyone else notice quite alot of trouble in the ground today? We sat behind the goals (west) I saw on a few occasions trouble been caused. One set some Australians who did not understand banter and they were really arrogant, towards the end of the game things were been thrown. Another set of people almost. Came to blows, not sure why as it was abut further way. Apart from that great day at wembley hope it's one of many to come. Plus sheens is a prat.

| Quote ="Jonesy"Is it?
What do you do with your History and Culture that makes your life more enjoyable?'"
First of all, intelligent, educated and literate people know that 'history' and 'culture' are not, in such a context, proper nouns and do not require capital letters.
But then again, they also know that 'there' and 'their' are not synonyms (big word - look it up in a dictionary).
Australia has an appalling record on racism, so don't try to play that card. It makes you look sillier than ever. And just what have Australia's contributions to history and culture been - apart from Rolf Harris, Dame Edna, [iNeighbours[/i, the inability to win or lose at sport with anything approaching grace, dignity and class, and the racist, religious fundamentalist that is Mel Gibson?
Any Shakespeare? A Chaucer, Dickens, Hardy, Austen, Keats, Byron, Shelley, Pinter, Golding, Brönte, Gaskell, Trollope, Defoe, Marlowe or Bennett? *
Your Elgar, Holst or Vaughan Williams?
Australia's Turner or Constable or Stubbs or Freud or Bacon or Blake?
And that you have to ask the question of what people "do" with culture is indicative simply of your own ignorance of the subject.
* I'll give you Peter Carey - he's not bad at all. But then you did foist Germaine Greer on us as an illustration of your intellectual might. And you've produced a couple of good actors - Hugo Weaving and Geffrey Rush - but you haven't overwhelmed the cultural world.
