| Right, so here are the matches that have been played at Wembley since 1990. Before that it was a long, long time without international Tests being held in London.
WC 1st round - England vs Australia - 2000 - 33758
Ashes 1st Test – GB vs Australia - 1997 - 41135
WC Final – England vs Australia - 1995 - 66540
WC 1st round – England vs Australia - 1995 - 41271
Ashes 1st Test – GB vs Australia - 1994 - 57034
1st Test – GB vs NZ - 1993 - 36131
WC Final – GB vs Australia - 1992 - 73631
Ashes 1st Test – GB vs Australia - 1990 – 54569
This means if we get 50k down as hoped and projected then it will be the fifth best fifth best attended Test at Wembley. In fact if 43k tickets have been sold already it will be the fifth best attended Test.
What’s also of note is that we don’t have a history of filling the place out. My memories tell me we sold out for the first Test of 1994, but there were over 20 empty seats.
It also shows that before they stopped taking Tests to Wembley demand for tickets had waned.
So, essentially, we're in a good footing, nearly back to where we were and in a good position for the WC.

Someone on TotalRL had an email saying 41,000 sold a couple of days ago? Unless they are full of pap.
RL fans are well known for buying tickets late anyway, there is not much of a history of advance ticket sales as things rarely sell out.
People will have been waiting for pay day too, in the knowledge they will be able to get a ticket.

1) LOTS of people haven't paid £10 for a ticket.
2) There'll be more than 40k there and the DW doesn't even hold 25k, especially with a big screen in. We only just got 23k in 2009.
3) As far as the game's profile is concerned, 40k at Wembley is FAR FAR FAR better than 23k at the JJB. One is a small crowd in a backwater northern town, one is a far bigger crowd in the national stadium.
Enjoy the game (I'm sure you won't given your outlook, but give it a try).

| one last bit of nonsense from me!
I really hope we would get 50-60k to watch what is for me, the ultimate in sport GB v Aus at RL, it is spine tingling, shame the gloss got knocked off this many years ago. Fingers crossed they get it back but they would need to scrap 4 nations and go back to getting the aussies here every 2 years and us go there for that to happen.

1. About 85% will have done.
2. Whoppee still half empty
3. The way the media and southern jessies view the game, it won't be looked at as a success so stop kidding yourself son.

As I said higher up they may be disappointed then as the RFL will be advising Wembley how many blocks they want open. Can't see the RFL funding a couple of extra blocks on the off-chance that thousands of late-comers will want to buy them (unless their previous stats can provide them with a firm estimate of likely last-minute demand).

1. Nice stats, where did you get them?
2. So getting 20k more than we'd get in Wigan is failure? You do realise that previous 4N games up north have had ticket offers too? It's not just a magic southern idea.
3. Let's hide away from the horrible southerners in our little northern towns then, that'll fix it.

What an utter spoon you are then. What's the point of coming on a board like this, the sole purpose of which is to discuss RL, and then refuse to discuss RL.
No one denies that downgrading the venues had a damaging effect on the game. The article looks at how the RFL are trying to rectify what has happened in previous years and build towards the future.
And, as for your "going from the DW to Wembley is Madness"; the 1986 Ashes Test series was held at OT, Elland Rd and Central Park (with 20k in attendance), the 1990 Ashes series was held at OT, Elland Rd and Wembley (54k).

Right, ok, discussion involves listening to the other persons point and understanding what they're saying, not trying to ignore everything they say.
