| It would appear that there is a bit of competetion for this, so I ask, which clubs have a fullback who you'd rate as poor?

Not bad for Superleague, then. Wello & Webb were great players on their day (and it looks like Wello isn't first choice at saints anymore) and Dorn has certainly given some decent shows over the years.
So really, the standard of fullbacks in SL is pretty good?

| I think it is pretty good.when compared to the nrl fullbacks though it would then look average but they have do have incredible depth in that position in particular.

Never a dull moment when he is playing thats for sure.
To be fair, when he plays well he looks very good, unfortunately he keeps having brain farts and costing us tries. I would say that for half of each game we get a talented, exciting player and for the other 40 minutes ..........................
If he plays on Saturday he is just as likely to score a hat trick of excellent tries as he is to cost us the game with phukupps, we just don't know which Eden will turn up.

Eden sums Rovers up perfectly, brilliant & shocking in equal measure. Every game's a toss of the coin.
Tomkins is in a league of his own in SL. Some promising / talented players elsewhere but no consistent standouts just yet & some proven quality slowing down with age. Take your pick.

both have qualities, grix is great under the high ball, organising the defence and backing up plays
but can have utterly awful days and often comes into the half back position and messes things up.
eden has the same awful days but great in attack... needs to learn, that why we have sent him off to hull kr to do his learning there

| I don't see how Escare can be listed as he's only played a handful of SL matches. He shows great potential and ability, yes, but he hasn't played enough to be listed on this as he hasn't totally proved himself.
What I'm trying to say is that some players have one excellent season and look fantastic but then drop off and are poor during the next. I don't think he can be listed until he's had more time there and proven that he's the real deal.
My point is pretty similar to the point Jimlav has previously made about Lomax at fullback.

| Simple fact is that there's only one true top quality FB in SL and that's Tomkins.
There's a not bad bunch, consisting of Wellens, Hodgson, McDonnell, Kearney.
There's a young, talented bunch with potential, the likes of Escare, Ratchford, Hardaker.
The rest are rubbish or not even really full backs.

Brett Hodgson.
He's utter dog s*** that bloke. How he won Man of Steel is beyond me and he's the Exiles captain too. Deary me today. Why isn't Shannon McDonnell not in the squad? He would be a better choice. Why isn't Rhys Hanbury captain? After all, he is much better than Hodgson.

| Anyone who saw Morgan Escare play yesterday will agree that he is one of the top 5 full backs in Super League.
It doesn't matter how many games he has played, because he has been consistently outstanding in every game.
Morgan Escare has class written all over him.

I sincerely hope that this is an attempt at Sally Cinnamon-like irony. Although Hodgson no longer has the raw pace he had five years ago, he is still a very fine player indeed. If you can't see what he contributes to the Wire ( and therefore why he is justifiably captain of the Exiles ) then it's back to RL training school for you.

| Tomkins is the best player in SL, and happens to play at fullback.
However, the best out-and-out full back in Super League is Hardaker. Not only does he attack incredibly well, but he pulls of the defensive side of the position incredibly. Tomkins (like Webb at Leeds) gets carried in defense.

He didn't get much ball as we couldn't seem to get the ball past second receiver all night. The few times we did Tomkins got a try and an assist (and another time Goulding threw a poor ball) - that was pretty much it. Tomkins contributed in other ways too though, especially his kicking game on that occasion, was very mature and intelligent.
Good to see Hardaker shook off last week's nightmare too though, had one or two attacking moments well. But that game was pretty much a neutralisation of pretty much every player, bar a few glimpses from Watkins, Farrell and the full backs.
