| My opinion:
John Kear is one of the best tactical coaches this game has ever seen. He can spot & highlight a player's or team's strengths and weaknesses, like no one else I have ever known. I once told Shaun McRae that Kear was the best signing he'd ever made at Hull, a statement that I will always defend. I first encountered John Kear when he was coaching Castleford's 'A' team and was immediately impressed with his knowledge of The Laws of the Game and especially how to work around them.
When he arrived at Hull FC, the first thing he did was hand every 1st team squad member a dossier on themselves, highlighting their own particular strengths & weakenesses and what opposition teams did to negate or exploit them. He is an excellent reader of a game and of individual players.
What he is not, is a manager.
He appears too close to the players, every game he watches, you know he wants to be out there, playing every ball and making every tackle.
Promoting him to Manager at Hull had its good and bad points, yes he brought us silverware but his management style also caused upheaval that lasted long after his departure. But it seemed like a good (and cheap) option at the time.
The best thing that could happen to John and the game is for him to realise his shortcomings and a club to realise just what his strengths are and pay him accordingly. He is worth a fortune as anyone's assistant, he just ain't up to the top job. But ,aybe that's why Bob Diamond earns more than the CEO of Barclays?

Kearney's one and only red card spoiling the match in the first quarter. I blame Kear!

This obviously gives the Hull F.C.fans the opportunity to 'bag' both Cooke and Kear.
Please carry on.I need a source of amusement after seeing how the strengths of Huddersfield were negated on Saturday. You are more wrong about one man than I was about one woman.
Perhaps it isn't 'Cod' that is synonymous with your 'ead,Dick.

Look snuggles, I know you must still be hurting after a game like that but you need to face some facts before throwing gratuitous insults around.
I have no axe to grind with John Kear, if you had a semblance of intellect, you'd have deduced that from my post, that's always assuming you can comprehend the English language.
Paul Cooke became an irrelevance to me (and most other Hull FC fans), the day he walked. I keep an interest in John Kear because I truly do admire his obvious strengths, again, if you actually had the capacity to comprehend my post, you might see that.
If you do sign Cooke, you'll be getting a player with tons of ability, who can turn games but has almost always managed to disappoint because of his attitude. If there are factions in the Wakey camp now, they will become major fissures with his arrival.
As for Kear and the Huddersfield game, I have no doubt he will have told every member of your team, what was required of them. The fact that they did nothing is testament to his management, rather than coaching skills. Unfortunately he will be remembered for that long after any positives he brought you.

12 men or not, no team should lose 71-0 in the play-offs. Especially the Cup winners, and a side that stuffed Wire + Andrew Johns the week before.
The year before, GB nearly beat Australia with 12 men for longer than Hull. I think Australia are a fair bit better than Bradford, and GB not exactly that much better than Hull.

| Cooke is probably the most over-rated player in SL history.
At his best a very good player, not a great but a very good player. At average he is a poor player. At his worst abysmal.

May I suggest you look up the dictionary definition of 'most', then compare a conservative average of 14,000 supporters with the dozen or so numpties, who still appear to be fixated with the lad

I'm quite familiar with the definition thanks. Might I suggest that you turn your hearing aid up a notch the next time Paul Cooke takes the field against Hull FC. I think you'll be surprised at the noise and venom "a dozen or so numpties" can generate.

| 3 years on, and it would appear little has changed. Drop cookies name into the conversation, stir, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes and bingo, an Fc-rovers spat is once more up and running.
Now that Cookie has gone (or appears to have gone at least), does anyone reckon we might be able to go longer than 10 days without at least one rumour/story/myth/legend/hearsay concerning the errant one raising its head in the fair City, or will it just be business as usual.
Actually, someone told me last night that the real reason for his departure from caravan park is that he is distraught at the imminent closure of Crown, thereby leaving him with nowhere to go on a Wednesday night.

Nice try. So by your line of logic if 100% of Hull FC posters on here showed the same fanatical zeal in following Cooke's antics it would provide no indication at all as to the general attitude amongst your support, because MOST of your support don't use this forum.
Whether it's posts on a forum, talk in the street or vitriol on the terraces it amounts to the same thing. Cooke's departure was anything but an irrelevance to your supporters.

As long as they steer clear of David Lloyd like other professionally-run clubs, all should be well and they won't need to take over another club to survive.
I have heard Paul Cooke plays quite well against Hull F.C.

| I reckon Cooke will do well for Wakey.
We never used him properly here mainly, I think, due to his and Morgans poor relationship.
Him and Brough could be devastating.
