Giants were solid. Easily our worst display with a team of Powell's choosing. Toothless is fair game. Pathetic. He will continue to pick a championship half back though so you reap what you sow.

Worst game I have seen all year. Castleford were pathetic. The Huddersfield crowd was pathetic. I am sick and tired of watching games where there is no imagination in a team's attack. How Cas beat Wigan is a mystery. All I can say is at least the good folk of east Hull are in for a bit of entertainment on Sunday.

To have the amount of ball and field position Cas had, especially in that first half, and do so little with it, was criminal. The sharpness in attack they showed against Wigan was sadly lacking. The Giants didn't need to play well to win, and they didn't surpass expectations.

I felt like saying before the match that I'm not so convinced as everyone seems to be that the Catalans will be mixing it with the big four at the end of the season, and why shouldn't it be one of these two? But I have to admit that on this form neither did much to press their case.

Maybe when Benjamin Roberts gets a gig at stand off, we might show more consistency? Deepest sympathies though it was a dreary game, I can well imagine you are used to 40 all draws.

The issue was Cas didn't really pose any problems to the Giants defence-they barely completed a set. The other teams did which is why you lost.

Hudds seemed to defend ok but Cas were so dopey it was hard to tell. I wouldn't read any more into Hudds defensive effort against such a woeful attack than I would for Leeds' attacking efforts last week against a similarly woeful Hull defence.

Leeds would have beaten the other two NRL sides & given Souths a better game than Saints if you believe anything there fans say

Both teams chucked it about a bit too much which made the game scrappy to say the least- but to suggest Hudds didn't need to play well to beat Cas is laughable- but then most league fans praise the showy stuff whilst the bloke doing 40-50 tackles a game is overlooked at best and blasted for not making metres at worst.
The hudds defence was top notch- and the commitment in the tackle is the reason Cas's attack was poor- Hudds were in their faces and hitting them hard all night. The edge defence was absolutely superb.
When hull nilled hudds first game of the season the story from fans was different.....

Thursday's are killers for the crowd.

From our regular group of eight, none went last night.

Work and school come first. Just can't go to a match on a Thursday.

It is pretty easy to defend against a team that only goes sideways, it was a woeful game, Cas were very poor and Huddersfield were okay but no bet than that.

Terrible game to watch - my Tigers team gave their worst performance I have seen for several years, but I was very impressed with Hudds defence particularly out wide. Massive room for improvment from both sides.

I can remember numerous occasions when cas players were held up on the line, short of the line or pushed into touch .
That would suggest that Castleford did attack but were repelled by good defence

Put it this way If we had defended like that in our first 3 games then the table would look very different.

Thought Wayne McDonald put in some decent performances during his career although he did tail off a bit during the later years.

Crabtree is nothing short of pathetic and is getting worse every game he plays (using the word play in a very loose way).
Carney's hand off summed it up perfectly followed by Anderson taking him off to save face.

Crabtree made more metres then any other forward on the pitch apart from Ferres last night. He is the Giants leading metre maker in the forwards this season and has missed only two tackles all season. Certainly not the player he once was but still extremely effective especially used in short spells and makes very few errors and gives few penalties away.
Still i wouldnt want to let fact get in the way of your ill informed rant.

Stella - that's why fans such as the one having the ill-informed rant would make rubbish coaches. They have no tactical skill. They think a forward is a battering ram who's sole job is to make 10 metres a carry.
Regardless of the work done in defence I suggest the ill informed one looks more carefully at what happens when Eorl takes the ball in. He draws at least three defenders- and almost all of the time ends up on his knees winning the collision- he rarely is wrestled on the ground meaning the team gets a quick PTB and defenders are out of position giving the halves space- the game can be a bit too technical for some.

Ferres - now there's a player that doesn't always get the recognition he deserves. Crabtree I'm not that taken with. He seems to run his weight fairly well, granted, but without really hurting defenders.
