So you can understand why the majority of people are disgusted with Chase then! because that is exactly what he did!

| Five matches would be about right. Three as charged, plus one extra match for for each of the guidelines refering to the injury the player has suffered and Chases' previous record of having been found guilty of striking twice in the last 12 months.
With the challenge cup weekends in between that would mean Chase would be back playing around early-mid June and be hopefully on a par with what Ropati will miss (depending how bad the injury is obviously).

Point taken.
Most players don't deliberately raise and smash their arm into an opponent's face when they put on a big hit. Amazing after the obvious video evidence on this thread that anyone is still blinkered enough to see it as anything other than an act of thuggery.

| It'd be more convincing as a big hit gone wrong if he hadn't stood over him, glared at him and had a word at him about how big a man he obviously now is. Even Youngquest looked disgusted.

Prove it.
In fact, you prove exactly what his intentions/motives/thought processes were at that point.
Thought not.

Oh come off it, he turned around, looked at the tackle whilst jogging slowly towards his own line. I would think that he was making sure the tackle was completed.
As for Rangi's face, from what I see of him he always looks serious like that.

The prove is on the video, he goes in with his arm and raises his elbow!

| It was an attempted shoulder charge that was poorly executed and ended up raising his elbow. It wasn't an intentional elbow, but it was a reckless one, and it was definitely an elbow involved.
I think Grade C is an awful decision, but it can change between now and Wednesday. Grade C is either the highest possible for a reckless shoulder or the lowest possible for a reckless elbow. It wasn't a shoulder, and if that's the lowest possible for an elbow then I'd hate to see the highest!

In other words, no, you can't prove he "went to injure" another player. You're assuming that based on the nature of his tackle, which was reckless, stupid and high - as are a lot of challenges in Super League.

Raising an elbow doesn't make it intentional to injure a player. It could have been (and probably was) just extremely reckless.

Tangi has job working within the club working in the community department - going to schools and training the kids etc as well as doing various media appearances on behalf of the club etc
Although limited in some capacity im sure there are some things Tangi will be able to do regarding his community job and continue to make various media appearnces once the initial effects of his operation are overcome
No doubt the club will look after him and have his best interests at heart, but i would think he will still be earning while recovering
He is though really going to be missing out on the matchday payouts and a big payday and playing appearance for the wigan game which is the most unfortuneate thing on the monetary side of things

....That could be the most ridiculous comment since Chase should be banned for life.
A shoulder charge is intended to intimidate and force an error, not injure players.
It's rare you'll see a player go out to intentionally injure a fellow professional, you get it from time to time (biting, gouging, punching etc) but on the most part, these guys play hard because that's what they're paid to do, and they expect the opposition to play hard too.

Never seen Hock, Bailey or McGoldrick, even Morley, in their worst moments do anything like Chase did. I don't normally get involved with family affair games unless it's saints v wigan but even the most parochial blinkered supporter can see that this was a pre-meditated thuggish act. Worst thing about it, is that it was against a fellow professional who is now unable to earn his living and is going to carry this injury for the rest of his life. Out of order and somebody should have a serious word with him. He's talented but his demons need controlling.

Based on what? He tore you lot apart then week before, kr the week before that, played well against hull the week before that. Granted, he struggled without Orr for 2 weeks.
Think a 3 game ban will suffice. Some people on here make me laugh wanting him banned forever, he went to put in a big shot and got him high. There will be worse on a rugby field this season i'd imagine. Shouldn't any criticism be made of the pathetic ref who gave nothing at the time?
As for Ropati, doesn't he get paid whilst injured :S ?

He's in such poor form looking for a way out he leads the league in assists too...and by quite a margin

| How has this debate got this far ?
A picture was posted on Casforum, Not sure if its made it onto here, Showing the initial point of impact was Chase's upper arm. He went for a MASSIVE shot to raise his team, He mistimed it, And Ropati tried to avoid it and was on his way down, Hence the connection, His arm came up naturally as he went to knock Ropati off his feet. FWIW! If Tangi had ran straight at Chase, He would have been knocked back, And thats all. No damage.
In the NRL. There are hit ups like this every week, Not saying they have this damage, This was wreckless, And mistimed. But was not an attempt to actually break the guys jaw, Anyone who thinks that is an Utter Moron. He is a professional player, And i am sure he wishes Tangi well in his recovery.
The guy has been charged, And will face a 2 or 3 match ban. Thats fair, For a mistimed shot.
Is every high shot going to be met with such comments these days ? Any attack on the head, Shall we get the police in ? Get a grip.
The Disciplinary panel will make thier decision, It will be a 3 Match ban, And a £500 fine most likely. And a caution for future technique, Rangi will take it on the chin and move on.
One thing, I wouldnt want to lose this from his game, He puts shots in week in week out on the opposition, And 99% of them are fair and well timed.

| Rangi IMO should be suspended until Tangi Ropati has made a full recovery (minimum), a horrific and career threatening injury.
The last time I remember such a horrific tackle live was by Alan Pallister on Jamie Rooney in 2000 or 2001 at York.
I would be horrified if a Featherstone player did this to an opponent.
Infact, thinking further this season I've seen THREE broken jaws due to a raised elbow in the face.
1 - Fev Vs Sharlston - Boxing Day friendly
2 - Fev Vs Hunslet Old Boys - Challenge Cup (jaw and cheekbone)
3 - Fev Vs Cas
Tangi is one of the nicest men you could meet, such a kind and caring player, who goes out of his way to look out for others. Works hard in the community and brings joy and happiness to many children in the area.

I assume you believe this should be the case every time a player gets injured, accidental or not then? Or is it just because it was a Fev player who got injured?
Quote Infact, thinking further this season I've seen THREE broken jaws due to a raised elbow in the face.'"
Well, considering the first 2 points of contact with Ropati are Chase's head then upper arm, to say it was a deliberate elbow is falsifying things.
It was an unfortunate thing to happen, but the reaction on here has been ridiculous, if it was any other player nothing would be said (well, unless it was Bailey or Hock).

| It doesn't matter who did what to whom, the fact is a very serious incident occurred on Saturday, in which a player was seriously injured.
To justify the tackle, i'm speechless.
