Toronto has gone their selling their players, even their super star hasn't hung around to see whats left, at best if there is a team left it would only be worthy of playing them in division one, Ottawa hasn't even started, few players of no significant value might as well put Sharlston Rovers in their place, now New York can you please tell us who has plans for this new club and plans to pour in the millions to support this dream, Toulouse I can live with them in super league but remember expansion is when the league grows in numbers not replacing other teams.

Small clubs like Leigh & maybe Bradford


In a year when Leigh finished 11th from 12 & were relegated from SL *again admittedly* they were better supported than Salford, Huddersfield & Wakey & not too far from the likes of K.R & Cas ! Given an extended run in SL it is not inconceivable that the average attendance of circa 6,500 in 2017 could be grown to around 8,000 with even a modicum of relative success *let's call that SL top 8 play offs* !

My concern is how will the RFL make a 12 team SL next year? If a team from the championship is cherry picked it will cause a lot of controversy ,and will cause unwelcome ramifications. There MUST be a playoff for promotion with clubs who would be willing to enter.

I agree that there should be a SL spot for a championship club next year. By all means have a play off, by all means, have it decided by a panel. I apologise if I was not clear on that.



We cannot run with 11 clubs next year and allow TWP to create further damage even now they don't exist.

TWP cannot be back in SL next year, the owner has gone so there's nowt left, Any idea of them carrying on was in the Championship or back to League one under new ownership anyway.

If I was choosing I'd go for either Leigh who went down from 11th or London who went down for a bunch of phoneys.

Both deserve a second chance, so for me I'd have them play off for SL next year

Yes, I'm fully aware that TW are gone. For me tho, all the championship clubs who are able to play,and justify themselves for a place in SL should be part of a playoff comp.

This year could run with 11 in SL. Magic isn't a problem, just send the 1st placed team directly to Old Trafford G.F *as finishing top over the course of a season proves the best team, whereas winning a G.F in 1 game makes a team the best team out of 2 on one given day*, remaining clubs to fight it out for the 2nd Finalist spot !

Give notice now to all Clubs to submit detailed applications for a new "Franchise" Super League of 16 in 2022 *this includes all current SL Member Clubs* !

Selection will be based on strict criteria but actually upheld this time around.
1. Business plan
2. Finances *proven*.
3. Stadia *including tenure contract agreements*
4. Attendances
5. A 5 point bonus to clubs outside the Lancs/Yorkshire/GM area.
6. All clubs to run a full academy/reserves, checked every year for duration of licence. No academy, no entry.
7. All licences to run for 3 years & reassessed during season 3rd season.
8. An opportunity for clubs under SL to replace underperforming SL Clubs


I would apportion points on a sliding scale of 10 to 1 in each category with an independent specialist appointed to oversee & assist in the selection processes.

If my club are not included on merit then so be it, if your club lose their place then they have not prepared or invested.so tough.

With at least 10 English clubs in SL and at least six English wannabee clubs outside Superleague, I think it is a good idea that going forward they get some priority. The SKY deal is theirs and Les Catalans have made themselves into a big club[u but[/u I don't think they have done much for French Rugby League.......

1. They didn't make an effort to underpin a French test team once they got an SL place to do so.
2. They progressively made their first team more anglo-aussie than French
3. They started an academy but quickly abandoned that
4. They pretty much blew things with the Folau farce

I sympathise in terms of their difficulty to deliver what Richard Lewis wanted of them. It's tough enough to develop a club let alone develop a whole national game.

But now we have Toulouse those two clubs can get together and sort out a rivalry, via derby games, sort out a French TV deal of some magnitude, and concentrate on having a significant number of French players in both sides. They should between them develop a player pathway for French talent.

The best place for that would be the Championship, Providing a decent level of Rugby at which the best say 30+ French lads would handle well. In short this "One French club" being made to field Anglo/Aussies to compete in SL thus destroying their ability to develop French lads, could operate with a second French club at a lower level to actually deliver French growth?.

Once Melbourne storm's owner decided to widen the ownership of the Storm, Argylle was straight out of the door to seek to take the opportunity he had always dreamed of and sought.

Well let's be honest about this, most aspiring English clubs have plenty of [i"junior products"[/i who then sign a playing deal where they can eventually step up to the lower Echelons of the 30 man first team squad. Many are given a chance and in time don't make it or drop to lower divisions. We need clubs where young players are in such an abundance that the one quality talent in 50 can come through, to be steadily followed by more quality talent, from more hundreds of wannabees.

To have such a system SL clubs put scores of good young prospects through their local junior game via the foundation, then academy and then reserve teams.

Ottawa are not "about to start" in this respect. Eric Perez stared way back in 2010 taking the reigns at Canada RL, so he's had a ten years start in Canadian rugby League, to get players developed through grass roots systems. He started 10 years ago and hasn't developed a single young Canadian

I think we should wait till next year before making any predictions about overseas teams. This Covid-19 virus isn't showing any signs of going away any time soon. Hopefully in 6 months time, we will have some kind of normality, but I somehow doubt it.
