And Leeds play in Headingley, not Leeds city centre but are called Leeds. What's your point? In fact, Headingley is bigger than Glasshoughton so why aren't you called Headingley?
Glasshoughton is an ex coal mining site that is being built on. It's no mans land between Cas and Pontefract and could quite easily be called part of either. It isn't one of the 5 towns of Wakefield and before freeport and Xscape consisted of a cricket club and football team and a dozen houses. Glasshoughton = cheap land with the best transport links in the area. It is as simple as that.

You are incorrect actually according to SLstats (the oracle!)
Hudds best average was in 2009 (7,90icon_cool.gif [urlhttp://www.slstats.org/t7/Huddersfield+Giants/[/url
Cas best average was in 2000 (7,980) [urlhttp://www.slstats.org/t10/Castleford+Tigers/[/url
However, you are definitely on the up (despite a small -6% blip this year ), whilst Cas have been consistent (to a degree).

| I wasn't a few years ago, but now I'm sure - I want FEV in Super League. They keep that enthusiasm in the League, they have a nice enough stadium, but they could use a wee bit of work, but it's as good, if not better than Belle Vue, they love RL round there, they'd be quite a good addition IMO.

So basically you want Fev in because they are enthusiastic, love rugby league and have a less cr@p stadium than wakefield?
Widnes, Fax, Barrow, Leigh and Tolouse are all more prepared for SL IMO at the moment.

Isn't that the entire issue? Same watching Barrow on Granada and saying the ground isn't far off from SL standard, well yes it is. Belle Vue & The Jungle etc are not 'SL Standard' plain and simply so if clubs are trying to match their grounds then that's just plain stupid. They may be in SL and have met certain requirements in the past but a 'SL standard stadium' in RFL terms is not simply one in which SL rugby is played in.
We are talking about a ground with two half stands on the sides and two behind the sticks with no roofs and saying it's fine for SL based on the criteria?

Exactly. That argument always makes me laugh and tbf does seem to be the main one for Fev as have seen it a few times. "They are steeped in RL history, have a RL town and love the sport and have developed past legends etc etc" well yes but the same also applies to Widnes, Leigh, Halifax, Barrow etc... so what else do you offer? You can't use that argument for one club and not the others!

From one muppet to another, Middlesboro is in Teeside now and Hull is in Humberside, if you don't get my point then ask a grown up to explain it to you. All Widnes is, is an extension of the A562 from Halewood out of Liverpool and like Skem house the overspill from the great city, you should be honoured really your just as much a scouse as those are

| These posts are really bizarre.
To me, and probably the vast majority of people who like RUGBY LEAGUE, the KEY POINT is the game on the field.
Everything else is secondary, yet somehow all this rubbish and rhubarb about the colour of bog seats, who has a brighter light bulb than someone else, etc.,etc., has taken over centre stage.
Absolutely crazy.

Anyway back to what this thread is meant to about.
Hopefully this problem with Wakey's ground will be solved sooner than later as IMO if they play at Barnsley's ground for more than 1 year it will kill the club and that is something this game does not need.

Given it is a year to the inquiry decision and then another year to build the stadium (if they get a yes) Trin need to be somewhere for at least 2 years. For the licence they would have to guarentee that they have somewhere to play for 3 years, and that it would be economically viable to make such a move.
Some plonkers have suggested that wakey may acquire BV and stay there. They fail to explain how wakey will access the £ms needed to buy back the ground.
I hope wakey get a nice ground for championship rugby. If they are well managed they should have a strong C1 team for 2012. The fans could enjoy a season of winning more than 50% of games and a bit of success.

They'll have the same £300K salary cap as all the other Championship clubs. Most of the clubs in the Championship are spending the max cap, so there's no reason to expect Wakefield or any other club that drops out of SL to be able to dominate. They'll be recruiting an entirely new squad, for one thing.

A year to allow for the Public Inquiry takes us to Dec 2011. A year build would take us to Dec 2012. If this were to happen, which of course isn't guaranteed to, then only one season would be needed away from Wakefield.
2011 - Belle Vue
2012 - Alternative ground
2013 - Newmarket
