As per the NFL and NHL whom have a sysytem by which they can check and ultimately overturn on field decisions quickly the NRL are hoping to bring in something similar having trialled it already.
Should we be looking into this for SL..not having refs at the ground saves money and eradicates the logistics of ajudicators going/getting to matches. They'll have different feeds/views to hand immediately using multi screens I would think which will save time coming to a decision.
I still think we could have a coaches challenge in each half or have the review look at anything remotely contentious even in the event that the on field officials have made a positive decision.

Coaches challenges takes time. See NFL.
As for a bunker to review video referee decisions, the key phrase in that article was "seven-figure investment."
The sport in this country doesn't have a spare million of the Queen's finest to splash out.

| The video refs can't get it right now, and the same two blokes can't be consistent within a single game - never mind across a whole season. In what possible way will putting them in room away from the stadium make it work better?
Waste of money

| Is driving / flying an extra official to a game and giving them a monitor really that much of an issue for the NRL? Does Hawkeye really offer that much more than the current 12-15 cameras that are currently used at a fixture?
The only reason the NFL uses the review system in the way that they do is because it is beneficial for the broadcasters. It takes bloody ages to come a decision, by which time Fox Sports has shown four commercials.

| The video refs used to be in a Sky van which at least gave them a relatively quiet place to make their decisions. I can't see any reason whatsoever for having moved them inside the stadium apart from to provide the crap view of two people's backs and an oversized ipad. Parking them in atmospheric stadia like Headingley or the Jungle just exposes them to the same kind of pressures on-field ref get in these circumstances - at just the moment when a clear head in a composed environment is required. As SCummings has acknowledged this year, refs do get influenced by crowd noise - there's no reason video refs would be any different. Moving them to a central bunker eliminates all that but is probably not worth the cost in the UK.
