Wakefield Wildcats have secured the services of centre Daryl Millard on a two-year deal from the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The 24-year old will make the switch from the NRL to Super League in time for the 2010 campaign with the Wildcats.

The man they call ‘Magic’ has made sixty first grade appearances and one of his twenty career tries came for previous club St. George Illawarra Dragons in their 28-0 NRL semi-final play-off win over Manly Sea Eagles.

Millard represented Fiji in the 2008 World Cup, appearing in three of there games as they reached the semi-final stage.

The Fijian international is eagerly anticipating coming to ply his trade in Super League, and believes Wakefield can help bring the best out of him.

“The club is heading in the right direction and it was important for me to go to a club that is going to be successful,” stated Millard.

“I have been impressed with Wakefield's progress and that is one of the main reasons I chose to come to the club.

Guess we'll have a better idea if he really was a target once our overseas recruitment is announced. He certainly looked a decent player on the you tube highlights. Cue Bulls on the slide remarks before we have finished our announcements. I'm concerned about our squad for next year but reserve judgment for now..

I'm happy enough with Nero at centre. Finding him an able partner is a concern. Next year could be make or break for Crookes if we don't sing someone else

We do need a centre. Millard would've fitted the bill so it'll be interesting to see who we do sign.

He was garbage. Glad he has gone to Wakey.

Well it looks like this is at least one player who has been put off by our poor results this season, and I'm sure Millard won't be the last.

Very disappointed about this, looked like a classy player from what I saw, and it will be interesting to see how he does next season. Both him and Crookes for that matter.

Not really the one that got away, he's decent but nothing special. Jason Crookes should get a shot.

Nope, just my opinion. I'm sure our performances this season won't exactly be filling any potential signings with hope though.

He is someone I am looking forward to seeing a bit of next year.

Well now is the perfect opportunity for him to step up. Hope Macca gives him the nod and doesn't play Platt there. He doesn't do a bad job covering, but he's not a centre.

On the contrary, I'd say Centre is his best position. Certainly played better there than I've seen him at fullback or on the wing anyway.

Not saying he should be first choice, but I don't think he's half bad there.

I'll reserve my comments on whether we've missed out until I see him play a few times over here.

He looks a good player but well done Wakefield on signing a good centre and now Wakey are becoming a bigger club than us if we really were in for him bad times!

If we were in for him, Wakey simply might have offered him more coin. Theyve got a lot of catching up to do until they are a big of a club as we are.

The other side to this is How many quota/non-federation/Kolpak places do you have left open?. Fans of most clubs seem to think they can sign up half of the NRL.

If the likes of Solomona, Jeffries etc do leave as expected then we have 2 spots available. Brett Kearney seems pretty certain to be filling one of those spots though.

How can you be annoyed if you don't know who we have signed? Which is why it is perhaps more sensible to reserve judgement until our signings are all confirmed? If are other announcements are all average joe's who do not improve our squad then I'm sure you won't be the only one.

I know that we were in for him if that helps.
