I dont think Newton should be crucified for today, yes he had a poor game, but it's not like he preforms poor on regular occasions, i'd definatley give him chance to make amends. Godwin still on the bench for me.

The thing about Langley is that he isn't a creative player. People are looking for him to do things he just doesn't do.

We're lacking creativity in general but we won't get it from Langley. He's there to defend. We need to recruit from outside to get some creativity for next year.

He's more of a loose than Sam Burgess will ever be.

In the game v France Burgess showed people what a LF is supposed to do.

Maurice Lindsay could have played LF against France and showed people what one was meant to do.

Maybe. There was a reason why Tony Smith picked Burgess for LF for England, and not Langley.

Burgess wouldn't have played loose though if O'Loughlin didn't pull out.
The past few games Sam has played at loose should be enough for anybody to see that he's never going to be a loose. Personally, I think he lacks the mobility and ball skills.

Against a French side that would have probably lost to Batley.

Burgess is a prop end of story.

Burgess is definatly a 2nd Row/Loose. He will burn out like Stuart Fielden if he carries on at prop, plus he has too much talent to play prop.

I hate it when people say this, it does a great injustice to fantastic skillful prop forwards. Look at Barrie Mac, the fella was a unbelievably talented ball player, so was Webcke.

I think it was really unfair to put Halley on the wing this week. He's done nothing to justify moving him as he's been excellent for us.

What talent he hardly ever off loads he doesn't kick and his passing isn't the crispest.

Same, I knew it was going to happen aswell. I just hope he doesnt lose his spot for the rest of the year and I hope he isnt switched to wing next season either. It's not the way to go.

As it stands we're 7 points behind 8th and 9 points behind 5th. We need to really put the effort in week in week out till the end of the season to try and get as high up as we can. We have a game in hand over most of these aswell so hopefully we can gain a place or two.

There is always the possibility that it was a deliberate move to give us a potent attack weapon out wide against this particular team? Or maybe he started with Halley on the wing to spare him getting flattened in the inevitable opening onslaughts?

Guess the point is that its hard to judge unless you know why the coach made the decisions he did; and in most cases he is unlikely to say cos that would likely help the opposition. So its another Catch-22?

I completely agree with that. However with Tadulala out (I'm assuming it was an injury as I can't believe he was dropped over Sheriffe), I think Platt is our best option from our squad to come into the team and don't think he did too bad today.

I would hope Halley has the Number 1 shirt next year though.

I agree, but whilst on his current run of form, Halley shouldn't be moved. Platt can fill in on the wing, unless Semi has just been dropped (if he has it needs serious explanation from Macca along with BJ & Koppy.)

That way we have decent players on the pitch and all four on the bench could be considered to be impact players when they first come on. Against Celtic I think we could do very well by introducing Newton later on (as long as he doesn't do what he did today) along with Burgess, Scrutes etc. to try and blow them away and get a confidence boosting win.
