| If its any consolation you probably helped another Championship club out by them making the top 4 as Fev face yet another winding up order.

| How can anyone blame Marc Green FFS! No investment!!??
In 2014 i remember going to the first game at Odsal. The place was a skeleton, no barriers, a pile of dirt on the car park. The Bulls were dead. Green stated from the off he wasn't a multi-millionaire who could bankroll the club (there aren't many about unfortunately)
In his time he has transformed the business. Bringing more sponsors than ever before. The club HAS had plenty of money to spend. Unfortunately the people in charge to spend that money have utterly urinated it up against a wall.
Superb structures and staff put in place in the academies. At the beginning of 2015 we have a decent squad that maybe with one or 2 late quality additions would have been fine. Unfortunately Ferres and Lowes lost the plot signing random players with no actual plan. Lowes's stubbornness in refusing to play many players at all or sending them out on loan because of one bad game. 2016 was even worse with the signings of Campbell, Walker, and Mathers. No actual plan for any of these.
How MANY £100,000's have we wasted on players playing no more than 5 games or not at all. We've a 46 man squad FFS. Who do you think paid for it? The business Green created. Marc Green wasn't the problem. It's HOW we spent the money, not lack of it.

I did hear that they were having difficulties. Hopefully the top 4 finish will be enough to see them through.

Nobody's blaming Green? The recruitment was a shambles and as such we are where we are and unfortunately the problem is on Mr Greens lap, regardless of what he's done so far.

I heard a rumour that the RFL baled out Fev in the past couple of weeks as they haven't been paying their players.

I had to go back and read that again. Yeah, ignore that as it's bollox. Lack of investment by anybody at the club wasn't the reason we were relegated.

Not sure what Green could have really done to keep us in Super League as he'd taken over after the season started, we’d been hammered by a points deduction and there were hardly many candidates for players to bring in to turn it round. The writing was on the wall before the ink was dry on his paperwork to take over.
I will agree that he has been badly misguided on some aspects – the willingness was there, I don’t think he’s exactly penny pinched but he’s hardly splashed the cash either. That for me started with the appointment of Lowes. When Cummins got the boot, morale was fantastically low (something we now describe as the status quo). There were strong rumours of Noble coming back at the time – as I guess there always will be – but for me Jimmy was Nobby on a budget. A hark back to the good old days to get the feel good factor back. Now whoever advised Green that Lowes was a good appointment – to me did seem like a bit of a “jobs for the boys” move – started a snowball of bad decisions as we were told recently that recruitment was then a three way decision process between Green, Ferres and Lowes. I think we’re pretty much agreed recruitment was poor and lead us to this position. To me, I don’t think Green was out scouting the Aussie reserve grade, so we have to assume Ferres and Lowes brought the players to Green’s attention and he’d rubber stamp them. That’s the willingness, but he’s rubber stamped the wrong stuff and been left with no margin for error. I don’t think it’s a lack of “investment” – it’s a lack of investment in the right thing. A hard act to balance, I’ll admit.
What the club need to do now, is let people know what is going on. To read that article that AOB and the players don’t know what’s happening in 2017 is a tad disgraceful. We can’t move forward from one of the most disastrous results in the history of the club because Green is on holiday! Fine, well Ferres is still there, and I’m not suggesting the club isn’t working non stop behind the scenes, but there has been not an official word from the Bulls at all since the final hooter on Sunday. Even a placeholder of “We’ll announce something later this week” would be preferable to this silence. A huge slice of honesty is needed right now, I’ve always thought of Green as a particularly honest bloke and it’s nothing less than the fans deserve after this shambles of a season.

the original point I was trying to make was that when green took over the reinforcements to help Francis cummins he promised didn't appear. Instead as you rightly point out in such a great post is that there has been investment but it's been mismanaged and wasted on signing the wrong calibre of player. Someone at odsal has to accept responsibility be it green or Ferres. Not making the top four is unforgivable and the people who have got us where we are say nothing. a wall of silence has gone up around the place and the suooorters , players as stake holders in the club deserve so much better.

| Marc Greens only problem is that he's been guided by Ferres with regards to the playing side, and this year Ferres has let him and the Club down in my opinion, and I bet Ferres was glad that MG was on his jollies as he would have got the hair dryer treatment and so would the dressing room.
I see the usual insidious agendas are creeping back in with certain new faces.

Indeed. All of this rumour and ambiguity is bloody irritating. Bring facts or a plan, but lazy casting of aspersions with no real information is tedious and draining.

Wasn't David Tasker associated with the club also? Think we wrote the season review books we used to do.

Indeed, the characters that attempted to run things immediately before Green took over were quite a shambles. Green certainly steadied the ship. When you're selling bits of the ground for scrap to make ends meet it's desperate.
I think criticism can be levelled at him for not resolving the Ferres/Lowes situation. Obviously lots of players were being signed with no corresponding improvement on the pitch. Ferres was meant to be the RL man in this situation. Surely he could see the warning signs? He handles the day to day running of the club and would see the bills piling up and the various close shaves with HMRC. Signing players every other week wasn't helping that situation. Maybe Green should've stepped in earlier.
I hope Green has some sort of contingency plan. Otherwise we're up the creek. I'd be surprised and disappointed if he hasn't. I can live with a cut to the playing budget to make us sustainable provided there is no cut to the academy since that's the thing that can give us a future.

Given Ferres chequered history in driving his previous clubs to the brink, maybe this was the first signing which should have been terminated.....

| I posted this a while ago when our fate was still undecided, but I'll make the point again.
If Green was a shrewd businessman, and I've no reason to think otherwise, then at the start of the season he will have drawn up several budgets depending on how our season transpired.
One budget would be based on us matching last season's feat of reaching the mpg - he'd make reasonable estimates for attendances, ticket sales and central funding.
What he would also do is draw up a budget (or budgets) for us not making the mpg and ultimately finishing in any of the other final positions, adjusting the central funding gradually downwards as a result.
So, one of these budgets would presumably focus on us finishing bottom of the middle 8s (where Fev are now, basically). As I understand it, the team in this position gets £450k funding. By finishing in 5th, we only get £275k, which is a difference of £175k.
There will certainly be some discrepancies for the lower gate receipts as a result of missing out on the playoffs, but there is no way in hell Marc will have budgeted for Leeds finishing in the bottom 4 come the end of the season. So while that would have been a great money spinner, it would have been an unforeseen bonus as opposed to some income he was counting on or budgeting for.
So if he's done all of this, we're looking at a shortfall of £175k funding plus the drop in gate receipts. Let's say another £150k for that. Gives a total of £325k down on his budget.
So if we're going with a squad of about 28 next year, down from 42 this year, plus losing some big names like Gaskell, Ferguson, Clough, Addy etc. it doesn't sound [itoo[/i unreasonable to think that we might be able to patch a semi decent squad together for next year.
It will all depend on what sort of cuts those budgets factored in, and what level of reserves we've been bringing forward from 2015.
Having said all that, watch Marc come back from Ibiza and wind the company up

This is not unusual for us (or this league). Mark Campbell always finds a way to pay at the last minute. It's far from ideal, but that's how it is in this division.
I imagine this one will be swiftly settled with the £80,000 or so we made on Sunday.
