Quote ="zapperbull"If i remember correctly, a number of posters on this site were happy to let him go, eat your words and bow to the God of forgiveness
'"
I think you need to consult some specialist as your memory failure is pretty spectacular. I have been through the thread and not a single person was happy to let Menzies go. Some extracts from the [url=http://viewtopic.php?f=19&t=466445Menzies off official thread[/url - on the question of whether in fact anyone was "HAPPY TO SEE MENZIES GO". Some commented that if it freed up a quota spot for some ace Aus halfback then they could sadly see the logic, but that is not the issue - the issue is - who was "happy" at the news?
The answer is, NO. Nobody was. At all. (

Here's a snapshot of quotes:-
Quote tigertot: In rugby terms that just doesn't stack up. Everything Menzies has done indicates he has at least a year left in him, if it was 2 or 3 years he was after I could understand it. Unless it is actually about money.'"
Quote your good self, zapperbull: Gutted, he wants to stay at the club, he has done more than others to ensure another year so we let him go just like Morro last year, to all those who think we can replace him with a better player just ask yourself can we afford it NOT. In my opinion just another poor decision by whoever'"
Quote Dilligaf:
It all depends on what the other option is really on how I feel about this. If Potter is after a specific target that requires a quota spot, and we can only get that target if we sign him now and on more than a 1 year deal, you can see the reasoning. I just hope the other option is a long term one or a position we are more lacking in, as I can't see any like for like replacement being better than Beaver and it will be sad to see him go.'"
Quote tybulls: Sad if true. Great player who has been excellent for us. I think he had another year in him.'"
Quote Nothus: Can't believe he might actually end up playing against us next season, really struggling to see the silver lining on this cloud right now.'"
Quote bullsonfire: Sad to see him go.'"
Quote philgee: sad news'"
Quote Wigan Bull: Can see the reasoning why he has been released, but you can't help but feel disappointed.
He has been a shining light of these last two seasons.'"
Quote Duckman: Disappointing. Our best player and looks like he could go again. '"
Quote Bulls1989: This is a absolute disgrace by who ever made this decision. Menzies has played his heart out ever since he signed for us and is a real fans favourite. Anyone in superleague would have menzies in there team regardless of his age. The guy still has the quality. Im so gutted about this ...'"
Quote Steam Pig: , he's been a true professional and given 110% every time he pulled on a Bulls shirt, he's almost single handedly carried the Bulls during his time here.'"
Quote af: Gutted'"
Quote Adeybull: I'm very disappointed to see him going - he exudes quality and class, and put the graft in when it was clear some others could not be d ...'"
Quote Sexual Deviant: What he said.'"
Quote Roofaldo: It's a shame to see possibly our best player of the last 2 seasons leave us. ...I hope the club will be acknowledging we have had a living legend playing for us and give Steve Menzies the proper send off that he deserves.'"
Quote Bullseye:
This was on the cards wasn't it? Despite him being pretty much our best player too. ... If sacrificing Menzies was the only way of getting them then fair enough...He'll do a great job at another club and will go down as one of our best ever imports...He's been a shining light amongst the dross of the past few years. '"
Quote bradbull: sad to see him go'"
Quote MDF: .... rumblings in some other quarters that we have signed Michael Crocker pending borders clearance. I think we'd be unlikely to get said clearance, and would prefer Menzies anyway'"
Quote Ewennorfolk:
Gutted. Both for the fans and Menzies.'"
Quote He wanted a new deal, he's one of our best players (if not the best) and rarely do you find a player who will play with such pride, passion and commitment and put his heart into everything he does in the shirt.'"
Quote sir steve menzies: he has been very good for us since the first day he pulled on the shirt and did deserve another contract'"
Quote Stul: Seems a shame we have to lose Beaver and keep Hall'"
Quote Ferocious Aardvark: In terms of letting Beaver go to play against us for someone else, how gutting will that be, the comparisons with the massive blunder to absurdly let Morrison go are obvious.'"
Quote redeverready: I agree with the people who say lets see what happens before we throw ourselves of the nearest cliff'"
Quote Bratfud1881:
For those who can spin this one - good luck. Beaver may be older than most, and being such a prolific try scorer in the NRL does not guarantee a contract now, but a possible repetition of Morrison-gate with Menzies would leave a sour taste'"
Quote debaser;
I really hope the club know what they are doing on this one. I will be gutted to see him go.'"
Quote ex Bull dog: its a massive shame'"
Quote bobsmyuncle: What an enthusiastic and talented player he has been for us over two seasons. He gave us his all despite being in a poorish team, and showed a class that would have not been out of place in our very best sides in the recent past.
36-37 y.o. - hmmm, could certainly have done another year for us,'"
Quote Bulls1989:
menzies deserves a new contract and it would be sensible for the club to keep him '"
Quote bully boy: looking at how well Menzies has performed (we did not expect anything other tho from a living legend). Can you imagine how good he must have being to watch week in week out when he was in his prime!
Love to see him stay like I would have Morrison,'"
Quote Bulliac: Totally agree with that.'"
