The lack of any sort of rumour also gives it more validity (though I know that sounds counterintuitive - more it's so important it doesn't get out, it is on a strict NTK)

I find the current state of affairs a bit baffling all round really. How are we signing such quality these days? What have we planned for Odsal? Does the club know something interesting we don't (league getting bigger?). I can't cope with boom and bust again. No more false dawns!

As Greg said on the other thread, I can't see SL clubs voting to increase the size of the comp to 14 teams. It'd mean even less money to go around. I can't see how we're breaking even unless some of the new directors are prepared to lose money. You certainly don't get involved in RL to make money.

My guess is that the directors believe we have a chance of getting a high enough IMG grade to get into SL over the next few years. A lot depends on the on field performance and getting various upgrades to the ground. The ground itself has been cited by many former owners as a significant cost. Whether having the lease makes maintenance and upgrades easier I don't know. It didn't stop us going into admin in 2012 and we had SL crowds and income back then.

I'm at the stage now where I'm not worrying too much about the off field stuff and just trying to enjoy the rugby - and that has improved a fair bit in the last year or so.

I thought the rumour was that the 14 club SL would include two French sides who wouldn't take a share of the funding? Whatever the plan is, the loop fixtures are a joke so that cannot be a permanent solution.

To be honest I'm fairly neutral about SL. The Championship is a great competition and we generally win more than we lose. If went into SL it would take many years and a lot of money to get to a similar position. What I would love to see more than anything is some stadium improvements. The current situation with the pitch cannot be a long term situation.

Your investor has said his money can only be used on the playing squad or that is the rumor that seems to be doing the rounds. Anyone any idea how much he actually won?

With the increase in steel prices climbing so rapidly the quoted figure of 4.5m in 2008 would be close 10 to 12m in todays prices.

Id say just enjoy it, you never know how a money man will react when it becomes clear SL is a closed shop after this season and you look to be assembling a very good squad for next year that should be more than capable of winning the league. That is the most that any of us clubs below SL are going to be able to ask for until the IMG experiment has run its course.

Imagine the majority of fans would be very happy indeed if we were to win the championship next year. It would make a welcome change from what we’ve seen over the past decade supporting the club

Whats it matter? You have someone pumping money in to your club which can only be a good thing, who cares where the money is coming from.

I look at the Directors and see some money from all of them, but no multi-millionaires. It's possible all 4 of them are chipping in £100k each, which would likely double the player budget from a year ago.

Having an investor on board is a positive but it seems our near neighbours know more about the investor and the salary's we are offering than the Bulls.

That part is just the standard playbook that all sports fans use when a player leaves. RL is better at it than most.

1) Well, he's had his head turned by club X, we can't stop him from following the money.
2) Age: 23 & under - they're paying over the odds for potential
3) 30& over - they're paying over the odds for someone who's best years are behind him
4) 24-29 - He's average at best, we've 4 players in the squad better than him, & 3 coming through
5) I've never rated him.
6) There's better players available to sign.

Yeah fans always spin a narrative that suits their agenda whether bigging their own club up or throwing mud at another. We're all guilty of it. Beginning of the season some rival fans were saying it's inevitable we're going bust again and they can't wait for it...

Anyway there clearly is an investor of sorts. An unknown lottery winner who only wants the money spending on the squad does seem a little out there however.

Think it's a case of bulls aren't actually offering huge money and more that Halifax really can't afford to offer much at all the moment and their fans can't really come to terms with that

Said person isn’t an unknown lottery winner. They’re a lottery winner known to a select few Halifax fans and no one connected to the actual club they’re said to be pumping their cash into.

I've got a good friend who's a Fax fan and he warned me the 2012 crash was on the cards 18 months before it happened.

He also told me Keys is leaving because they spent massively on Widdop's retirement and that put his nose completely out of joint - esp as he's been 'a complete waste of time and money'. Can't discount all they tell us



He even told me that Nigel has a decent plan and we should be happier than we've been for years.
