It was a friendly match and while we were coming off the back of a decent performance against weaker opposition FC had been given a slap by their local rivals.

Also, given the season starts next week and our poor record recently with injuries you have to wonder if Potter has told the lads to take it a bit easy.

This is not a knock on Hull, I'm sure they were good for their win, but as they were saying all last week after losing to KR "friendlies don't matter"

We do have around 7 players missing but what happens if have injuries this season? This is what team will be left with. Am far from optimistic now but who knows we may kick on from today. Any news on Langley? Anything floating around on twitter about whether he is injured?

So I make that at least four tries scored down Walker's wing. I hope to god we manage to keep our first choice centres relatively injury free this season!

agreed. as someone said earlier, this may be a sign of how we start the season, however I do not believe it is necessarily how we will end it. A lot of players just back from injury, a lot missing. Defence however still a very big concern.

If you spent more time obsessed with your own club then ours, you may actually break 10k this season.

Neither results mattered in all honesty, your not gonna win any titles playing great in pre season. The main thing is match fitness and helping new signings settle in more.

Most FC fans last week said they we're disappointed with the defence but most realized that it was our first outing with 8 new players and in total over 25 players playing. Come good friday we will be a different side altogether.

I think Ben Galea described you all well when he said "they' dont care about semi finals or finals , all they want is to beat the black and whites". I suppose you don't expect out else though from a small time club.

Of course friendlies matter. They give you a good indication of where youre at. Now I wasnt there and didnt see us play, but a result like this, friendly or not with a team of 20 super league players is not acceptable the week before the season starts.

We havent put a near full strength side out at all this pre season. It should have been done now and before now, because we certainly dont have time to 'gel' this year.

Bloody knee clean ups, hernia ops, infections, hamstrings etc etc should have been sorted and players should be fit to play.

Where was Kopczak, Whitehead, Pryce?

Well there wasn't a lot of positives to take away from a Bulls perspective. I though we had a reasonable 1st half and some of the scrambling defence was quite good. Walker in particular worked and chased hard.

We were once again outmuscled in the pack though. Joseph was ineffective and Burgess spilled a couple of balls after a strong drive. The lack of field position killed us in the end and I think this probably fatigued the team on the 2nd half. It seems clear that we will need to keep like Koppy, Whitehead, Elima, Manase, Langley and L'Estrange fit if we're to compete for the 8. Those players will make a big difference when they're back so it's not quite time to give up on some improvement for 2012.

We will need a huge lift in enthusiasm if we're to get anything out of next week v Catalans though. I just don't think we can afford a slow start this year. COYB

Well I saw one Hull supporter joke about Martin providing the assist for Crookes' try, so that would suggest Walker and Kear were up against Yeaman and Briscoe.
If you're right and it was Purtell who let Yeaman in for a hat-trick, then it's going to be an even longer season than I first feared!

Whoever played in which centre position, its been clear for at least two seasons that we seem to have a problem defending against a ball that is quickly worked out along the back line. If the opposition pull off a simple 'cut out' move with a dummy runner we invariably seem to be wide open

Reading the (admittedly Hull-centric) posts on the Hull website, it seems that plenty of their tries were scored in that fashion this afternoon. We don't seem to be learning, no matter who plays in our team!

Purtell was marking Yeaman, he will be disappointed with his 1st try where he beat him for pace close to the line. He made the tackle but couldn't prevent the try. Yeamans 3rd was from a kick and a complete balls up by Kearney who should have hoofed the grubbed out.

How many games is his ban and how many did he miss at the end of the year?
