I agree about Briggs but disagree about Jeffries. IMO his best position is at Scrum Half where he was playing (very well) when he first came back into the team with Briggs at Stand Off..
Since moving to Stand Off to accomodate Herbert at Scrum Half Jeffries has gone backwards..

Briggs was mainly playing first receiver (ie scrum half) and Jeffries was mainly second (ie stand off)

| I am waiting for a comment from paul124897 or connor to validate this as those two seem to know what is going on at the club. Who knows maybe this lad is the next inside man

As I pointed out elsewhere, Beaver didn't catch Jeffries from behind, he cut him off from midfield, so to say Ben was 'outpaced' is not really fair. He didn't make the best decision, that is undeniable but not the same.

The wrong decision maybe but I was pleased to see a Bulls player actually backing himself on the outside.

| Look, I'm not having a go, it's not Jeffries' fault he can't even outpace 37 year old forwards, he was going as fast as he could, but as a first choice SL halfback, he should have been able to. Maybe normally he could. Maybe he was too knackered to sprint. I don't know, I just know it was embarrassing.

| We should know what we're getting from Jeffries by now. He's better than what we had before but all that does is show how lacking in quality we are at halfback.

| If this is indeed and that a big IF, what is Gale like? Is it again a case of sloppy seconds for us? We miss out on Pryce but sugar the pill by signing someone not quite as good which we can spin into being an exciting signing. It's getting a bit monotonous now.

| Gale is a decent attacker but pants in defence, not unlike Kyle Briggs.
If we sign him it's more of the same I'm afraid.

Before the most recent SL round, Gale topped the list (for the whole of superleague) for errors and had the fifth highest number of missed tackles. Hardly a solution for a team currently bedevilled by... errors and missed tackles.

Now here is the thing.
What Lord Beaver did to Jeffries was pretty well exactly the same as Reardon (IIRC?) did to Maguire that time at Sheddingley what now seems likes a lifetime ago, was it not? Cut him off from midfield, and with sufficent speed that he had more than enough momentum to bowl him over the line. Jeffries made the same mistake as Maguire, and tried to outrun the intercept down the touchline when - with hindsight - he should have come in to take the tackle (or even evade it).
That mistake did not suddenly make Maguire a crap player. It just reflected very well on Reardon. Same as Saturday did on the Beaver?

| Elementary schoolboy error not to come inside and secure the ball on the 1st tackle. He was well covered, had no support and we had another 5 chances had he not decided to take such a dumb option.

| Didn reardon just shoulder barge mguire into the stands as opposed to tackling him or am i thinking of someone else. Anyways back to the jeffries/menzies debte, if jeffo backed himself for pace why not kick ahead? i am pretty sure there was only them two nd then a straight footrace. Stand to be corrected though

correct, flattened the lad.

that would have involved a brain it would seem. although in the heat of the moment, it's hard to think quickly like that and when he saw menzies coming he did seem to slow slightly before having a go down the wing.

| I'd probably take Pryce over Ah Van as that quota spots are very valuable and I don't think Ah Van offers that much more than KP. I'm not Pryce's biggest fan, but its obvious the lad can score tries, we just need him to keep his effort levels up.
Gale - No thanks. Pish poor defence, and I've never been all that impressed with him.
