I think every Bulls knew letting Menzies go was a mistake. He seemed to be let go on the chance that someone might become available to play half back. Big error and a player everyone loved.

Menzies is still world class, no matter how old he is, what a mistake to let him go.

The guy is a legend of the game and still a superb RL player. Whoever he plays for next year will get a very good player indeed. He is a match winner as well, something we currently lack. We have a team of hard working players but not enough players who can turn the a match on it's head.

Hoping the recruitment for next year raises in quality a little. It needs to if Hood is serious about top 4 ambitions.

Great try saving tackle on BJ, and set up 2 or 3 of theirs. A class apart of anything we have our backline.

What we should be asking is why our half back wasn't under the posts, rounding one of the grandfathers of the competition. It was a great effort by Menzies, but I don't think there's another 6 in the comp who wouldn't have sailed in untouched. I was actually shocked that Jeffries looked to be treading water after only 20 yards or so. Embarrassing running, even worse decision making once it was clear Menzies had him covered.

Because he is prone to Brain Farts like that and is s*it!

Class on the pitch, everything he did tore us apart but what really caught my eye is after the MoM interview, he jogged over to Tetleys Stand, clapped the Bulls fans. Ran over to tunnel, put his bottle of champaigne down, clapped the Bulls fans and when the echo of 'Beaver' wnt around Odsal he took a bow and clapped some more. What a class man Steve Menzies is.

I agree that Jeffries should have gone infield, and if necessary, taken the tackle but the cover was coming [iacross[/i the field (and there were another two if Beaver had missed) so it was timing, and technique when he got there, rather than Jeffries alleged lack of pace which dictated the collision. Ben is reasonably quick over short distances but I'd guess he doesn't go the length of the pitch very often, so really the question might have been "where were the threequarters"? If that had been Wigan (or Catalans) there would have options available for the man making the interception.

Fantastic effort from Beaver to track back and make that tackle on BJ. It reminded me a lot of that tackle Kerion Cunningham put in a few years ago after running the length of the field and turning the man in the tackle and dumping him in touch.

In my opinion Menzies was one of the most consistent performers during his 2 years stint at Odsal. Letting him go was a poor decision but it's a 50/50 call that the board had to make. Sometimes it works, sometimes it backfires.

Am I right in thinking Menzies played the full 80 yesterday as well?

he's been great every time i've watched him at Perpignan - the try in the corner against Hull must be the highlight of the season so far.....Briscoe is a good player but just couldn't catch him.

What a priveledge to be able to watch such a great player - worth the entrance money alone IMO

It says in the Sporting Life after match comments that a few SL clubs are interested in signing Menzies for next year
