Anyone else hoping that a new contract will be announced sooner rather than later?

With his shoulder better, he seems back to his best, and was still consistent last season.

Home-grown, quality player, should get him on a 3/4/5 year deal.

He is a class act though, and I imagine every club in the league would be interested were he not to re-sign for us.

Imo it's top priority to give him a new contract, over all others going OOC in 2010. Although if Sheriffe carries on in this vein of form he will be second.

As said in the Cas MOM thread, I think he wouldnt be a bad bet for man of steel based on his current form. Anybody know what odds he is at?

All he needs to do now is learn to draw a man and slip a quick pass/offload away and he'll be world class.

I'm not too sure, but on current form he'd be my 3rd bet behind Amos Roberts & Danny Brough

I don't think Amos Roberts has quitw done enough to become a potential man of steal candidate......?

As far as the Man Of Steal awards go, I'd think any local St. Helens youngsters would be favourites.

As forwards go we don't have many other options.

But if you want somebody to get the ball and run forward a few meters with it before being tackled, then Langleys your man.

Hes better than jjb, kirke, bailey, burgess, ablett at Leeds.
Hes better than ashurst, hargreaves, flannery etc at saints.
Hes better than solomona, anderson brothers, harrison, westwood at wire.
Hes better than bailey, hansen, etc at wigan..so yeah he would get in there teams.

I'd say he's better than all those players (and he's played 1 less game than the Leeds players too)

He's had a good start to the season and we've only played 3 games, one of which I'd rather not think of. Let's not go overboard.

Ablett no, Burgess has time on his side but atm Langley's certainly a better, more consistant performer. I'd take him over Kirke anyday but you have to take into account that Langley is probably one of your top earning forwards, Kirke certainly doesn't fit this bracket at Leeds.

As for Bailey I'm really not sure tbh.

Either way I do rate Langley and am aware of his importance in your team. Although MOS candidate is going a little overboard.

You think Ablett is a better player than Langley?

I think Menzies, Hall, Lynch and possibly Scruton will be on more than Langley, although Langley's next contract will be his biggie.

People are only saying MoS candidate because of the way he's started, certainly not on 2009 form.

I'd compare Langley to JJB in Leeds' second-row, rather than Ablett, Kirke etc, and most of Langleys stats show he has more to offer than JJB - More meters per carry, more tackles, less missed tackles and less errors & penalties.

You guys crack me up...so full of $h!7. Basically you have just named Leeds' low profile forwards. You've asked me a question of "would you take our best forward (seen as you rate him MOS) for one of your lesser forwards?"

The question you should of asked is "So you wouldn't take him over Peacock, Kylie, Ali, Eastwood, Sinfield".

Ablett, Burgess and Bailey definately not. I rate Ablett and Burgess above him already and their only young and will without a doubt improve over the next couple of years and maybe be future England stars.

At this present time im not a huge fan of Kirke so maybe...but i doubt Leeds will go hell bent on getting Langleys signature just because he may be better than Kirke.
