| Wheeler and Lomax showed some good touches. A few good passes and footwork from Wheeler and
Lomax proved safe as houses with the ball in hand.
Eastmond was faultless with the boot and scored the try of the day.
Moore provided a few handling errors and dropped balls, but a few killer passes from dummy half made up for it.

| All of them excellent.
Eastmond was a lot more involved this week. Attacked the line a lot more, and showed a good all round kicking game.
Lomax lept like a salmon, being imperious in the air. He went a bit sideways at times, especially near his line, but also showed some good touches with football in hand.
Moores distribution, and general control around the ruck in his first stanza on the pitch was excellent. He went off the boil a little after his break, and threw a few daft passes. Ill put it down to youthfull exuberance.
Wheeler, possibly best of the bunch, linked very well early doors with Meli, and was involved in a number of long range attacking moves from his own half. Defensively I thought Bradford targeted him, thinking he would be a weak link. The reality was he was one of the sides strengths. Steve Menzies got absolutely no change running at him, and was constantly closed down.

This is encouraging, but not surprising! Except for Moore, who's a bit of an unknown quantity in the redvee, it was good to hear that there have been no steps backwards for Wheeler, Lomax and Eastmond. Also great that Eastmond got more involved. Might that have been because Pryce decided to pull his weight do you think?

I heard this. Ray French was taken aback by his jumps and how good he was at holding on to the ball (which is encouraging, as he had a bit of a problem with ball retention last season here and there).

I've read Huddersfield fans saying much the same about Moore, ie he's inconsistent. Hopefully that will lessen with confidence and experience.

None of this surprises me with Wheeler. I think he earned his spot in the first team last season and I'm really happy he's had his chance again this season.

I dont recall him having any difficulties catching balls last year. Infact i remember commenting that his ability to catch a ball is such that he catches balls with his hands outstretched above his head. This is reminiscent of a goalkeeper or Aussie rules footballer.

| Looking forward to seeing Lomax play.
Wheeler has always impressed me. Hopefully he will keep the centre spot.

Whereas, I do.
Happy to acknowledge that he's got it sorted though, which is great news. He's a talented young guy and a very brave one too. I still don't know how he goes on to a rugby pitch with three plates in his head.

He did have a few problems with ball retention at times, but it wasn't while taking high balls.

Yep more from having it knocked out of his hands in the tackle. Thats imo due to lack of physical strength at his tender age, and also not being used to the intensity of SL.

| Lomax and Wheeler were excellent.
Wheeler is probably the most intelligent out of all the youngsters that are coming through, you can tell he has one hell of a rugby brain on him.

He's always looked pretty good under the high ball when i've seen him in the past. He did drop the ball a lot though. Wildcats away he played well but lost the ball few times and a home game but can't recall who against he dropped it a lot.
When he does get hold of the ball he looks pretty good and a lot better than ade.

| As I've always said - you can learn an awful lot about a player by his hands. The very best have an ease with the ball (often holding it further toward the fingertips) which gives them that extra fraction of a second on their opponents. Lyon had it in spades. So did Martyn. Both Wheeler and Lomax appear to be similarly gifted.
I still feel Lomax is twelve months away from having the physicality to compete consistently in SL. But Wheeler is ready now. I don't believe he should supplant Pryce to take up what is probably his natural position - that would place too much pressure on Eastmond. But he should certainly assume a starting centre spot. He's quick, has a lethal step and knows how to score. What's not to like?

Agreed. I hope to see him given plenty of time at centre this year, whilst Soliola adds weight to the back row.
