Considering hulls population is twice the combined population of Wigan and St.Helens, Its not a bad result

Both decent events, don't understand all of this one being better or bigger than the other. I watched the Saints v Wigan game and enjoyed everything about it, obviously being a Rovers fan our derby means more to me but both games served up the best in Super League.

Obviously its a fruitless arguement, but I feel both the Hull derby and Wigan/Saints derby are a step above the Leeds/Bradford game.

Out of the three, i'd definitely say the Leeds/Bradford is third when it comes to 'rivalry', 'intensity', and 'size'.

On the evidence of yesterday's games, I'm not surprised.

Hulls derby is a true local derby, however more often than not, its been between two poor teams.

Saints and Wigan is a derby between the two greatest clubs in UK RL history.
Clubs littered with many of the all time greats of RL.

When the players came on at Hull, the sound of the crowd sent shivers down my spine! Now THAT was atmosphere! Nothing like that could be heard via Sky at JJB. We tried, we truly did, but the Hull match was crackling all the way through.

Hull derby probably is the best.

The others are not what they once was.
Saints - Warrington seems to have more intensity these days.

Well, it did last season. The way Wire are playing this season our future encounter(s) may just be damp squibs.

Really ? With all but one Super League fixture going Saints way that point is definately debatable. Wigan will always be our main derby.

Dunno distances but Wigoons closer. Only seperated by the no mans land that is Billinge.

I think Wigan - St Helens is about 6 miles, Warrington - St Helens about 8 or 9 miles.

So the Hell derby may be the only inter-city derby in SL, but they population of Hull compared to the population combined of St Helens and Wigan, who, per captia, has the bigger draw?

On top of that, look at the quality of players who have played for both clubs since the war, the Bostons, Murphy's, Karalius'. Special players.

Saints Wigan is THE stand out game in Rugby League.
