i'm undecided, at first i hated the idea, i dont like him and think he is like danny orr, looks good in a poor team etc. The more i think about it though he may be someone who can do a half decent job for a couple of years until eastmond and co are ready to step up permanently. I'd rather long played for one more year if hes up to it though.

I'd say no, we've got plenty of possible young halves coming through like Eastmond, Smith, and Wheeler. Pryce isn't that old either plus Roby and Wilkin can both do a job in the halves.

He's too much of a hot head and not enough of a team player for me. I'd definitely say no to him, even acknowledging his kicking ability.

Once long packs in we dont seem to have a bad hair guy at the club, so Brough would fit right in.

I dont like his "criminals forehead" you cant trust anyone like that.

All he needs is some screws in the side of his head and you've got Frankinstein's love child.

I think if Saints sign another half-back (and I don't believe for one second that they will) you will see a few of our up and coming rookies being tempted away to other clubs.

We have some very exciting half-backs making their mark and who, with more first team game time, will certainly make it in Super League and at St Helens.

I think Brough is a good player, but I'd be pretty concerned about our approach if we signed him when we have 3 or 4 outstanding junior halfbacks on our books.

If the club signed Brough it would mean that these superstar young halfbacks we keep going on about aren't as good as they are made out to be.

Eastmond is particular seems to have been ushered into being Long's long term replacement on here, despite never stringing a run of consistent performances together.

And there-in lies the problem. The knack of molding a good player is all about integration. Every talented positional player requires individual coaxing and blooding to achieve their potential. On a level playing field it would take more man hours than is recognizable in a superleage scope.

Talent will out.

Why would we look at a half back never mind someone like Brough with gems like Lomax, Moore, Wheeler and Eastmond breaking through!

Brough has more experience and a good kicking game - THATS IT!

The Wakefield game alone showed glimpses of Wheelers talent. Good hands, vision, confidence and an amazing step. He is an old fashioned stand off that, with the ruck being slowed down his skills will be even more essential and indeed evident.

For me Brough would be better suited to Warrington who are in need of a decent halfback.

I think he would be a great signing, as he is a typical saints scrum half i.e with problems off the field but great on it.Not convinced Eastmond is going to make it .

I really don't rate him at all. He is an average player in an average team.

Poor and pointless signing when we have Matty Smith, Gary Wheeler, Kyle Eastmond, Johnny Lomax. All waiting in the wings.

But none of those bar Smith have had any resembling a proper run in the first team. Smith is good, I like him, but is he good enough to replace Long?

Wheeler looks good on the wing and did well at Wakey, but it's a big ask for him or Lomax to suddenly be handed Sean Long's shirt and boots.

Eastmond is an enigma. He is popular on here, yet bar one run against Wigan has done bob all in the first team and is constantly crocked.

Personally i think he can replace Long, my feelings on Smith have long been known.



Indeed, but it depends how much of a run they get this year in the team. If they feature frequently, particularly Wheeler then it is a possibility.



I'm sold on Eastmond. For me he is too similar to Leon and i don't think he can control a game like a 7 should. Added to that he is seemingly always injured i don't think he will take over from Longy.

Either way my first choice would be Smith, follwed by Wheeler. I'd rather either of those two take over from Longy than even think about signing Brough.
