| Where do we reckon he's up to?
After some pretty solid performances on the wing, he's dropped for Wheeler for no other reason (i could see) than to give another youngster a bit of exp.
It was brought to our attention that he's not actually a winger, but a centre and yet pre-season all the talk of youngsters in that position was about the talent of Jamie Foster and the posibilty of Wheeler moving there this season for the first team.
Despite Armstrong looking very comfortable under kicks, Lomax was preferred at full back last friday and Foster was used there in the pre season friendlies.
Exactly where do people think he sits in the pecking order and indeed the clubs longer termed plans?

| I see Amrstrong ending up like another Hardman, truth be told. A player who ultimately will end up as fodder in NL1.
He is steady, but doesn't seem to have that added "x-factor" to make him a serious option for a top side.
Having said that, I would like very much to see him get a shot playing centre, see if his natural position will see a better turn in his fortune.
And as I have said about players like Tyrer, who I haven't been convinced about in the past, I HOPE I am wrong.

I fear you are right about him, but hope to be proved wrong

| Armstrong looked a good player for my money. He's not a winger, that was clear. I'd like to see him at centre, he looked very capable of handling it physically, already bigger than the usual Hardman-esque sparrows we seem to produce. Like a young Gary Connolly.
Wheeler looks more capable on the wing, he has more pace and looks up to playing at 6 or 7 too. The kids that played on Friday all looked good, but perhaps that has as much to do with Wakefield's deficiencies as it does with the young players' talent.

I thought that. Its rare for a back at his age to be bulky, but his frame is a decent size. It would be interesting to see if he gets a chance in the centres one week, or whether Mr. Potter would prefer Wheeler, Foster or even Chris Dean should Gilmour or Gidders be unavailable.

Chris Dean seems to have really dissapeared down the pecking order for some reason.

thats seems a little harsh from the few outing he's had so far.
I think he looked ok in the couple of games he played and should only get better.
As for Hardman I think he would have developed a lot better had he played in his correct position more it's just unfortunate he was at Saints when the mighty Wello was at full power.

You think? He was injured in the second friendly against Widnes and has only recently returned to playing, hasn't he?

It was a good one. The fans were in singing mood, there were quite a few of us, we scored lots of points, everyone on the field looked healthy (until Dean was injured) and in good form, and it was cold enough to freeze the wotsits off a doofa.
