Im not complaining but just a bit baffled. ive liked and thought that on previous times when Ive seen Mr Albert hes had a good game clear calls and let things flow, all credit to him. But i thought that if a ball came out from a players grasp with more than one in the tackle it was " A Steal" and a penalty awarded, but 2/3 times last night a saints player was disspossed it was there for all to see, the rate of knots the ball was spinning out its obvious it was reeked, but the ref gave a knock on everytime, Have I missed a rule change?

Nope. No rule change. He just made two mistakes. Quite amazing really. Generally speaking when a ball is lost it doesn't come out of the tackle spinning on its axis, for instance! Wakey just got away with two steals.

Just get rid of the ball steal rule. If you're not good enough to keep hold of the ball then that's your problem.

Totally agree, the ball stealing rule was a shocker and hardly improved with the one on one rule.

Give over people! We need the ball stealing rule in place or games would descend into a farcical game of 'stop the player and steal the ball off him'. I think the rule is fine as it is, it's hardly difficult to officiate with. Mr Alibert had a fine game apart from those mistakes, but anyone with a basic knowledge of physics would know that it is not possible for a knock to be made by a ball carrier whos arm does not move, yet the ball spins out at a hundred miles an hour. They were blatant calls that he interpreted incorrectly.

The ball stealing rule is just fine as is I think. It's just that we need to make sure our refs know the laws of physics.

Refs - Physics? they dont go together do they?

In the NRL last season, refs could go to the video ref for a ball steal. Yet they still got decisions wrong.
