Anderson changed the way Cunningham played though, and we also had the emerging Roby to take some pressure off. Had he carried on the way he was doing he would have been finished. It's also a credit to Cunningham, some players can't adapt to changing physical attributes.

Given Wheeler still can't get himself fit again, Shents has been granted a reprieve for such action for this week.

Would anyone be tempted to give Makinson a run in the centre? That was his position growing up, after all.

In the end it's an injury, he has played well in the Centres when he has played, although I cannot forsee any fixture bar the CC tie where we would play with both Jones and Wheeler in the Centres.

Would be quite pleased with that in all honesty, frees up a lot of cap space, he was an international when we signed him and he had a lot of interest so will be on decent whack. Opens up a centre spot for Wheeler/Jones/Turner to contest too.

Although he isn't out of contract so will be a case of a transfer fee or early release.

He played very well tonight. Why on earth would we want to release him?

I wouldn't say very well, he played better than hes been doing but against a very very poor Widnes team.

He did play better but he's still a long way off the pace.

Shenton just needs game time. His confidence improved as the game went on, to the point where he was desperate for the ball towards the end.

I thought he played well at the back end of last year but has been a shadow of that player since his injury but that's to be expected.

He's not off contract until the end of next year so it gives us time to see if he fully recovers from his injury.

One thing you do see with Shenton is that he is trying his hardest to regain some form.

And it's very frustrating when your putting in 100% but playing bad. You know you can do better but it's not coming off.

I broke my ankle one year and was the same, I stopped stepping off my right ankle because I wasn't confident in it but in time it just goes out your head, you step off it and make a break and your gain confidence again.

Next year

I get peoples point about his performances,
but he comes accross the type of guy that will be as frustrated as anyone and will be doing all he can to get back to his best.
I think we will see some good things of Shenno this year.
