Hargreaves was pretty average too, but I would have him in over Frodsham at the current time.

He's a better player as I've said on another thread. Hargreaves offers nothing going forward.

He made a mistake that cost us a try, Long was going ape. I think he may have seen a bit of a gap there that wasn't really and got tackled, however that's the kind of mistake I'd expect from a youngster and he'll learn from it.

For me, he should be our fourth prop for the majority of this year.

Were you as critical of Puletua when he ended up with the ball on the last tackle twice in the middle of the field and not even close to the line?

No - it wasnt Frodshams fault (or Puletua's) that he got the ball on the last tackle - but that doesnt excuse what happened next. There was a 3 man overlap and he chose to run it in - it was a mistake.

At least Puletua did the right thing, and offloaded, and one of those occasions led to a half break and a good kick down the line.

I am fine with young players making mistakes, and can forgive them - but that doesnt mean we have to ignore them and cant discuss them on here.

I had a text conversation with a certain poster on here regarding Sean Ainscough on Friday.

He scored an absolutely superb try, a wingers classic. However, 20 metres from the line his arm raises in the air to the crowd and he dives over the line about 8 metres in from touch. Wigan were six points behind. Ainscough could and should have gone close to or under the posts. Roberts missed the kick and therefore Wigan were still two points behind.

Was Bryn as invisible as he was against Wire?

Maybe this is why he's so slow on the turn ... when mankind is taking a giant leap he's only taking one small step.

Frodshams stats from game are as follows:-

63 metres gained in 9 carries
20 tackles made 3 missed tackles

What do you conclude from those?

An average of 7 yards per carry (which is good, i'd say) and an 87% tackle completion rate (not so good).

BUT it is workable. IIRC, Maurie was working off a 3 misses a game rate in 2006.

Its not awful, and he still made 20 tackles. You can't really trust a one off stat, there may have been extenuating circumstances (ie a slip) for one or two of them. We'll look at that again in a few matches.

Can you tell me Bryn's comparable stats? He's going to be Frodsham's yardstick, after all.

Slightly less tackles per game than Frodsham, but appears to work hard around the ruck.

Like many, if he has the chance, I think Frodsham will out grow Bryn this season. Maturity goes a long way for a player, take Jammer.

Pretty decent for a 19 year old prop. He was making yards and doing the work defensively

Obviously room for improvement, but that can be expected.

As a comparison at the same age Graham was making 34 metres a game and around 6.1 metres per carry
Defensively Graham was making 14 tackles a game

Graham is not a big meter maker per carry, but he is a big metre maker because he makes lot of carries.

this is true. he averaged 7.07m per carry in 2008, and is on 5.6 this year so far.

Peacock averaged 7.8 last year, but made 93 less carries and 318 less metres.

some others in 2008:

Andy Lynch averaged 7.4m per carry
Adrian Morley averaged 7.9m
Fa'asavalu averaged 7.6m
Feka averaged 8.6m

But in total Feka only makes 17.2 metres per match because after 2 runs he's buggered.

If he's on the field as little as you say he must be the most effective forward in the game.

Nobody with an ounce of grey matter would claim that Feka isn't a very useful and damaging prop.

However, it is an undeniable fact that he's carrying too much weight, lacking fitness because of it and would be a far better player if he addressed this (serious) issue.
