| I'll give him 6 months before I slate him. He's done a good job at Huddersfield, providing it's him that has built their squad. They have got a fabulous, young, dyamic squad and look set for success. In fact it looks so rosy at Huddersfield with the quality of their young players that it confuses me as to why he would come to Saints now. He's 90% of the way through turning Huddersfield into champions and he walks away to join a Saints squad which is pretty near to the start of it's development I'd say.
He didn't stay with Huddersfield as he kept moaning on about returning to the NRL. So are we now going to adopt their insecurity and have to see him linked to every NRL vacancy and him potentially leaving part way through his deal, or has he forgotten his desire to return home now?
On the whole it looks a reasonable move by McManus. A coach with a solid Super League record and some NRL experience signed early in the season. It gives them plenty of time to meet up to discuss recruitment and get the ducks in a row.

| It's a good call for me. A guy whom the players will respect. He lets his Huddersfield team express themselves as well, which is good. Still no mention of the plan for the rest of this season, I notice.

Rush is doing it, isn't he? He said he'd do it for as long as they need him.

He did, but he also implied it might only be as a couple of weeks or a month.

| Hope he rates Jamie Lyon
Good young coach and although he has not won anything with the Giants, that could change this year?
Welcome to the REDVEE again

Could that not be because at the time he said that, they hadn't agreed a deal with anyone?
It would be a pretty unusual situation for another interim coach to be brought it, just for the end of the season. There were the rumours about Daniel Anderson doing it when he comes over for the Exiles game, but he has denied this.

| I think this is a very good signing for Saints. They have a crop of good youngsters coming through, and you can see what Huddersfields younger lads have achieved under Browns tutelage. He's even made journeymen players look good in Kevin Brown and co. I think he'll go well, plus he's used to the red vee

| You're on to a good one here. First Season he plugged the fundamentals, as he gave us a solid defense and took us to 3rd, despite losing out on Todd Carney and Nathan Fien - created a HB partnership in two/three weeks, that was ultimately successful throughout the season. But out problem was always scoring points, something that Carney has no trouble creating and getting for teams, so it was all there. We got to the Challenge Cup Final too, and should have won it.
The Next Season we brought Danny Brough in, and to be fair, although he wasn't great early on, he got better throughout the season, and we started to score more, although around the middle of the season, we had a dip which was caused by people linking him and Brett Hodgson with jobs around the NRL and Warrington respectively - ending in a 60-4 loss to Warrington that was our heaviest defeat in a few years.
But he got all the players back to form, and had a knack of inspiring players for certain games, the 16-14(?) win at Wigan was inspired. We won out last 7 games, and went in on form. Going 20 minutes from the GF, losing to you
The Next Season we were tosh all year, but we just so happened to win a load of games early on. But we were tosh. I mean TOSH.
So;
1. Expect good defense
2. Expect nice Rugby
3. Don't expect it from the offset
4. Expect ups and downs
5. Don't see him as a long term coach haha.
Good luck to you all, I hope you have good times like we did with him

| Not convinced myself. His teams so far have lost finals or, in the case of Hudds, have repeatedly failed to get to a Grand Final. Not only that but I don't believe a word he says about being at Saints given his record for wanting to go home every season.
If McManus wants us to win more silverware wouldn't it have been logical to appoint someone who had actually won silverware, given our failure to win it lately while still actually getting to finals?

| A great appointment for you lot, not sure you lot are gonna be convinced though because of how much Maguire and Brown ruin super league with their style of play and all that.

As someone pointed out in the first page, what had Millward won when Saints appointed him? Same with Anderson?
