Quote ="Supreme Sydney2002"I have reliable contacts who work within some of the larger suppliers (one is in charge of purchasing for a large well known builders merchants). He tells me things are still getting worse for them not better. One of their biggest headaches at the moment is storing all the unsold stock. Says prices will continue to fall for months to come.
I have a PDF from BERR, shows the construction proces over a number of years up until Jan 2009, usefull bedtime reading. I have been following it closely as I was going to build my own home, but with prices goign down it doesnt make sense right now as the same supplies will be a lto cheaper for me in say 6,7,8 months time.'"
You are referring to materials in their composite form. Myself, I am referring to raw materials; steel, aggregates, sand and cement. Your man is correct in what he has in stock currently, his purchases in the next quarter, should he make them, will be a whole different proposition. It's easy to say we are in recession, whilst disregarding the weak pound's effect on imported goods.
