This is Coventry Bears' first competitive home game since joining the semi-professional ranks, having so far this season played two cup ties, both of which were away defeats to Oldham.
However, it's not the first time rugby league has been played there - before the days of silly names, Coventry RLFC switched to the Northern Football Union in 1910 lasting three seasons. They finished near the bottom of the league for the first two seasons and then last in the third one. They played at Butts Stadium, which was surrounded by a cycle track - you can see it at the top of this photo (the cricket ground has since been built over by a Tech College).
The rugby ground fell into disuse, and was demolished about 10 years ago. In its place was built Butts Park Arena, where Friday's game will take place. In 1910 there were too many clubs in the league for everyone to play each other home and away (a bit like League 1 this year, in fact). However, over the three seasons it's likely that Huddersfield's Team of all Talents, including the likes of Hall of Famers Harold Wagstaff and Albert Rosenfeld, will have played in essentially the same place as Oxford will play on Friday.
Presumably this part of the city is where archery practice took place in the era when it was compulsory (that's certainly how the Butts in Reading got its name).
Played for both sides
Current Oxford players
Tom Davies - signed from Coventry in 2014 and has made 19 appearances for Oxford scoring two tries.
Harry Kaufman - signed from Coventry at the start of this season and has made one appearance.
Current Coventry players
Andy McGrory - signed from Coventry in 2013. Made one appearance for Oxford. Has re-signed for Coventry for 2015.
Andy Winfield - signed for Oxford in 2014 but didn't play for the first team. He joined Coventry this year.
Potential milestone
Tommy Connick has played for Oxford 38 times, more than anyone else. However, Andrew Hoggins is second on 37, so if he plays he will draw level as the club's leading appearance maker. All of Connick's games were starts and he will hold the record for most starts for some time (Hoggins has started 24 games of his 37 so far).
Note - I've excluded warm-up matches from all appearances and scoring data.
