Broncos form dual registration partnership with Skolars and Oxford

London Broncos Rugby League is pleased to confirm a dual registration agreement with London Skolars and Oxford RL for the 2015 season.

Skolars and Oxford, who both play in the Kingston Press Championship 1 competition, will benefit from the use of up to four Broncos players each week. Broncos and Skolars have enjoyed previous dual registration deals spanning back four years and both clubs were keen to renew the deal.

“I’m really excited that we are able to work with Skolars and Oxford,” said London Broncos head coach Joey Grima (pictured centre). “We invited expressions of interest from Skolars, Oxford and Hemel, with Skolars and Oxford expressing a desire to set up dual registration with us. We met with both clubs and worked out the best scenarios under the rules of the dual registration partnerships.

“I was impressed with plans by both clubs after I met with Joe Mbu and Hector McNeil of London Skolars and Adrian Smith and Tony Colquitt of Oxford.”

As part of the agreement London Skolars head coach Joe Mbu will attend training and video sessions once a week at the Broncos to ensure continuity in coaching and analysis. Oxford will also send staff to sessions every 2-3 weeks during the season to ensure ongoing coaching and development.


London Skolars head coach Joe Mbu commented: “We are very pleased that we can continue to work closely with the Broncos and help build rugby league together in London. Both clubs have put together exciting and fresh faced squads and we want to push on up the leagues together. Given the closer proximity of the clubs we feel we can work together even better.”

Oxford RL head coach Tim Rumford commented: “We are a development club and we’ll learn from the Broncos set-up on and off the field and that’s vital to me, my staff and the team.


“Starting a relationship with the South’s premier rugby league club is great news. Both clubs have identified mutual benefits in developing players within our squads and ultimately trying to improve rugby league in the south.”
