THE captain’s challenge to the referee, a major feature of Gridiron, is heading for a trial in rugby league.
In the States, captains are allowed two challenges per game but it would be just one each in rugby league.
So we could soon see the likes of Kevin Sinfield getting the ref’s ruling replayed on a big screen before a final decision.

Nothing to do with captains in the NFL, each coach gets 2 challenges and if they get them both right(rarely happens) then they get a 3rd, they also lose a timeout if they don't get a challenge right(which is why they can't challenge if they have run out of timeouts and why they only challenge big gamechanging plays) and in the last 2 minutes of each half they can't use challenges, they have to come from the booth(would be 3rd official in RL)
