How is Potter a failure?

He's done an outstanding job this year, and wouldn't suprise me in the least to see him make this same poor bulls side competitive.

If you go on winning trophies etc what has potter won?

he has rebuilt saints. he has brought on a bus load of kids and laid the platform for the next coach.

Exactly. A coach who can develop youngsters and integrate them into a team, whilst still challenging for honours, can most certainly not be described as poor.

Year on year Bulls are either going to win something, hammer the Rhinos, stop getting bad decisions against them from those corupt refs blah blah blah.
You should know as a betting man all about percentages.
FWIW I personally think it is a good appointment and if he brings on the kids the way he has done with Saints.

Tad, I do agree that tropies only do not make a good coach but its usually the way they are judged. I am not sure how good a coach he is but it may depend on his backroom team ( franny and willie ? ) too, I think its good for us in the semi that he is leaving but time will tell on his new role and this, I do agree with the other poster about not being able to polish a turd though .

I just wonder if Mick has the funds to replace the entire squad just about? He did well with a poor catalans squad so maybe he could do something with a terrible Bradford team? Even getting them in the top 8 would be a great achievement for them

All the clubs that stay under the salary cap get a small medallion every year. Potter is the only Stains coach to own one I believe.

I think that it's a good appointment for the Bulls.
Unlike other possible candidates from Oz Potter has already spent 3 years at Bradford so he ought to be fully aware of the issues facing the club & he is familiar with the area.

How do you work that one out?

He was successful at Catalans and his remit at St Helens was to take them through a period of transition and blood the kids. He's done this while still reaching a GF and still in with a shout of both trophies this year.

Where has he failed?

The concern at this point for Bradford supporters is that only a couple of months ago Potter was speaking about returning home to Australia, missing his boys, not having seen them for 5 years (holidays apart I assume), worrying they could have kids and he would miss out on his grandkids, feeling he was ready for a 1st grade post in the NRL, next year some opportunites being there that wouldn't come around again in a hurry, even willing to take an assistants role back in the NRL.

Only after all that justification for returning home did he mention staying in SL.

Good post and has it's already been mentione dover on the Bulls board, there won't be any new faces coming to Odsal, but Potter will have the job of bringing the young players through.

You just worry about making the play-offs first but if that happens, the answer would be - both of us.

When is Potter arriving? Surely it'd make perfect sense now for Simmons to take over at Saints for the rest of the season and Potter to take over immediately at the Bulls.

The Bulls have to secure their play-off spot before worrying about who they will meet if they get there.
