| Warrington. Wigan's niggle and spoil tactics get on my last nerve. I'm not sure Farrell knows how to tackle without rubbing his hand in the attackers face as he gets up.

Me too Bullseye
10 of us are going over for the weekend and we all want a Warrington victory by a cricket score
Although I'd bet that I dislike Wane far more than you could ever do
If you disagree with me then prove it and shoot him

| Don't mind. Warrington play the game in a way I prefer and I like Tony Smith, but like Tad I admire Wigan's ability to get a performance out of a below strength team and I respect the way they front up and intimidate the opposition.
Wane is a graceless oaf though.

| Watching a rerun on planner of last year's grand final just to cheer me up. Pre match interview with wane was a treat. What a face. Looks like a bulldog sucking slash off a thistle.
Hoping wane can get another moral victory tomorrow

| Wigan as a club have massively under achieved during the salary capped era and have only won 3 GF's since 1998 when the title was decided at Old Trafford
Wane has 1 GF win to his name and 2 consecutive GF defeats and if (hypothetical I know) Wolves hadn't bottled it Big Style in 2013 v Wigan when they were 14 points up then Wane would be on 3 defeats in a row
IMO a defeat v Wolves this weekend and the vultures will be baying for his blood
My motto is "When your club is at it's peak then you need to deliver the trophies"
We certainly did this and we also won GF's when we plodded along throughout the season when we abided by the rules and peaked at the right time
Neither Wigan or Wolves have been able to do this

Funny how it works out though. 2013 vs Wire it was a bit of a sh*thouse tackle that injured Ratchford and forced Wire in to one too many backs changes (Joel Monaghan had already departed) and they felt that cost them the game. But in 2014 it was Wane's feed them on raw meat style that was blamed for Flower getting his red card and cost them the 2014 title. So kind of equalled itself out a bit.
From last year the lesson they need to learn should it arise is when to take the 2 or to run the ball. Think most of us felt they let us off the hook last year when they opted to kick the 2 to extend their lead to 4 points when we were clinging on for dear life in that first 20 mins of the 2nd half.

I want them to win for fans like him.

Champion Performance As Wigan Win Grand FinalA whole season in the making, the Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors clashed at Old Trafford in the fight for the ultimate prize, the Grand Final Trophy.
The game was too close to call. Warrington finished atop the pile at the end of the regular season, but Wigan were second. Warrington won two out of three meetings in 2016 but it was Wigan who won the last encounter, a thriller at the Halliwell-Jones, where they stole victory despite being reduced to twelve men.
No-one knew whether this would be the first time that the name Warrington Wolves would be etched onto the trophy, or whether Wigan would be able to end a two game losing Grand Final run. A full-house was all-set for a classic for the nineteenth Grand Final.

| good final. Turning point was Atkins failing to ground then Wigan scoring on the next set, only really looked one winner from that point.

| With a decent coach wigan could really dominate, thanks to this win they'll plod along with wane and although they'll be up there, they'll be beatable for the other contenders.

| Tony Smith....close big game.....final 20 mins.....loses again.
Never mind can McDermott succeed without Sinfield and Peacock. Can Smith win a GF without them? He's had 8 seasons and failed.

| Good job Wigan didn't get flooded or were affected by SPOTY and the Kiwis last year.
Who knows what they could have won this season had they been affected by more than a mere season-long injury crisis to contend with, eh?

True, otherwise they wouldn't have won tonight. As we'll see next year a good pre season will make a big difference to Leeds and they'll be back in the mix.

Good point, if they'd had their training ground flooded they probably wouldn't have been there tonight.

True but firstly they didn't lose key time in their pre-season and secondly we all know they are the best drilled/structed team in the league and have been for several years. This has had both its pros & cons. Last few years they've not had that special play/player like us and it's cost them trophies for two seasons but then losing players effects them less which is why they can cope better.
So what do you go for, a system in which can work when starters are missing but can lack a bit of magic to get you over the line at times or a system which relies on the the magic of your starters but is badly effected when you lose too many of those starters.
Both have pros and cons as the last 2 Grand Finals have shown.

| Warrington the first team to lose both major finals (GF & CC) in the same year since Leeds in 2005.
Who was the coach both times?
The Arsene Wenger "specialist in failure" tag comparison that's floating around now for Smith is quite accurate.

Smith has won two Grand Finals, three Challenge Cups, three League Leaders' shields and a World Club Championship. Including the WCC his final win rate is 50%. Smith-coached teams have won trophies in eight out of the past 12 seasons. A failure he is not.
Much bigger specialists in failure were Huddersfield as a club before he went there, Leeds as a club before he went there and Warrington as club before he went there. What happened to each of those clubs after Tony Smith's involvement is remarkable.
