| Jeez, if we didn't have bad luck with injuries we'd have none at all.

| He's on a 3 year deal, there's no point in deregistering him IMO, and even if we did, who could we sign at this late stage in preseason? Just give Lumb a chance.

| Gutted for him, awful situation for a player and I hope he can make a full recovery. Even as a Wigan fan, he was a player I was very much looking forward to watching this season, think he would have been proper box office. Hopefully he will be next season.

It's scant consolation but the RFL Operational rules here https://www.rugby-league.com/uploads/do ... 202025.pdf in Section 6.6.1 on page 287 of the pdf document seem reasonably clear that due to the injury being season ending and before more than 3 matches are played then the whole of Sivo's salary cap would be covered by the injury dispensation.

We can just deregister him for this season - I can't see any reason not to if he's not going to play

| [quote="MjM":3rf2k5yk]Yes I'm sure there is cap dispensation for this scenario.
Squad additions aside the logical thing to do is to play Hall and Handley as wingers with Connor in the centre but let's see how committed Arthur is to the Handley at centre experiment.[/quote:3rf2k5yk]
This is the only logical thing to do.. why have Connor on the bench and and a young kid on the wing? Better put Handley back where he should be (wing) and play Connor at centre..
If we de-register Sivo, maybe allows us to look for a replacemnet.. Who knows how he will be after a season out..

| Omg. I can’t believe it. Was really looking forward to watching him play. I really do think it’s a gamble playing an overseas outside back at his age in middle of our winter… it seems to happen a lot.
Has to be deregistered for this season, and replaced, we must have a playoff push this year. He might never be same again also

| If we deregister him and his salary is covered.
Does that mean when he is fit next season another club could sign him?

| As a Wakefield fan we have had our share of this season ending knee injuries early in the season. It's a real shame for Sivo I hope he makes a full recovery so we can see him in SL

| Rotten luck for him. With Hall on a 1 year deal we could look at getting in a replacement for him this year, with Sivo deregistered for the season.

I wouldn't have thought so - deregistering would surely just mean he's off the cap and the quota but would still be employed by the club through his rehab and into next year. Also feel for the owners/shareholders funding these signings in these situations - obviously there's a human side where you feel dreadful for the player but on the business side its shelling out a big sum of money for someone who can't contribute with salary and rehab (plus money on any replacement that's brought in). Wigan lost a hell of a lot of money with a similar situation with George Burgess. That's sport I guess.

We don't need to do anything with his contract - what we can get is a salary cap dispensation for 2025.

| Thanks for the replies to my question above, appreciated.
I suppose much depends on how he comes back next season from an ACL injury which can be very debilitating in some cases.
But yes he needs deregistering and we look to see what`s out there especially as Hall is only on a 1 year contract.

| Terrible bad luck, real shame as he would have brought excitement to both Leeds and helped the wider game.
Let’s hope he can come back next year.
Although we can get salary cap dispensation, I don’t think we can use another quota spot (maybe wrong).
I’d have another go for Kallum Watkins, probably not
Much chance if Salford are getting investment but I can’t think of anyone else who is worth signing. If we can’t get any quality in, would rather go with what we have for now. Hope Simpson, Lumb and Ned Mc get some game time as the year goes on

| The problem will be if the gameplan was based on having big powerful wings, then using younger players, who may be talented, but cannot run the ball back hard or run over defenders to score, will be more of a change than just swapping one winger out. A challenge for Arthur for sure.

| Yep, that’s the big problem with this injury. We will have most definitely have built game plan around Sivo and Hall bringing the ball out. Apparently we’re seeking quota dispensation also
I’m sure we’re cursed.. I’ve never known a team who has so many long term injuries as we’ve had these last few years

| It does make you think if the conditioning or type of training methods used are a problem or simply that we are unlucky.

What would training methods have to do with Sivos injury? Pretty sure he just got his foot stuck in the ground when French fell on him

I`m referring to someone saying we have had our fair share of long term injuries some similar to Sivo.

| Hopefully Sivo will make more of a contribution to Leeds than Paul Bell.
Leeds should be looking to bring in an experienced centre/outside back in the interim, of equivalent standard and certainly not any more Roberts/Hooley types. Hopefully the likes of Lumb will be able to have extended runs but look what happened last season there - no-one is injury proof and we can't afford to have too much cap sitting in the stands, especially if there's a loophole to bring someone in.

| There is no evidence that BA is intrested in Roberts/Hooley type signings. So far only quality or faith in reserves. I cant see him changing that ethos anytime soon because of a setback to a marquee signing
