Having watched Leeds since the early 1980's I'd love Adolf Hitler if he'd have been our coach in 2004.

| They both ended with close on identical points percentages with one winning a Challenge Cup and the other two Grand Finals in twice the time available.
Pretty similar records all in all. I liked them both for what they did for Leeds, which was to bring credibility back to pretty much the biggest chokers and under achievers in professional sport.

I also watched Leeds from the early 80, well mid anyway. I have seen some shower play for Leeds, and I do appreciate that we have had some arrogant coaches as well.
Maybe we were spoilt cos Muzza was such a 'people person,' with fans and seemingly with the players.
BTW - my definition of a good coach is being able to get the best out of all his players. Didn't Murray do this????
You might support some crappy grass roots team who have a poor set of players who are never going to win anything, but they have a great coach who recognise where each player needs to improve and gets the best out of each player. They are not going to win anything, but it doesn't mean he isn't a good coach.

No more embarassing then losing to cas at home in the play-offs
I must admit i'm surprised how many people i've spoke to who agree with you emm i personally thought he was sound as a bloke to talk to and a legend as a coach,i was worried he would be hounded out early when we hit that slump in 07 but he and the team turned it around to bring home the big one.

I liked Murray. I really liked Murray.
He couldn't win the big one though. Never has.
Smith can.
Maybe you need to be more than a "nice guy" to win the big prize.

Yes, I agree with you there, but what really stunk about the playoff match against Warrington is that we had been shameful for a long time before that, yet Smith told us all that we play our best rugby in the playoffs.
I did wonder at the time if he had lost the dressing room. Looking back, obviously he hadn't but the thought did cross my mind at the time.

It didn't seem to flow for us in 06 there were a few injuries and departure's aswell.
The biggest thing about the play-off match that disappointed me was the fact we'd put 50 on them a couple of weeks earlier
