| Quote ="rollin thunder"Good look to walters, not super league standard but could excel at this level, and maybe the super league door is not fully closed. did not deserve the stick he got, always plenty of effort, and he will always have that dream grand final winning try.
Ormanroyd, we he was never ever good enough a very average championship squad filler, do not know what we ever saw in him in the first place, hopefully the last of these type of second class project players.'"
The comment about Ormondroyd is very easy to make with the benefit of hindsight.
At the time Leeds signed him, he had improved massively at Featherstone in a very short period of time and in the space of a few months had gone from being a fringe member of the Fev squad to playing well enough to be on the radar of several SL clubs given one important factor about him - he didn't start playing rugby league until he was 16.
At the time Leeds signed him, it would have been hard to assess whether his sudden improvement would continue or plateau. As it turns out, it has been the latter and I wouldn't say he has improved over the last couple of years, but that's sometimes how things go.
Think the current moves for both he and Walters are the right moves for all concerned.

Both players could have earned more money over the years playing elsewhere, suspect this years contracts are sweatners for long service and both are jyst squad fillers, however there value of the field as role models to the young players cannot be undervalued, JJB maybe both will have back room jobs at the club next few years.

It’s Kyle Turner the forward Souths are trying to offload

That would be a terrible signing. Poor kid has got a glass jaw - slightest head contact and he's off with concussion, and the last thing we need is another back rower. We need classic, north/south, head down/ass up props.

Merrin/Ward/Smith/Trout and maybe, maybe Sutcliffe is a reasonable back row. Holroyd and Mustapha are more direct and aggressive than anyone in first grade IMO. We lack a whacker in D (although Konnie gets stuck in).

| Why would we be looking at Turner anyway? In Cam Smith and Owen Trout we've 2 of the best young 2nd rowers in the country!!!! Leeds past success has always been built on young local players and that will always be the case.

Only a miserable get would point out the downside of this is that many unsuccessful periods coincided with spells when not enough of our young players were good enough
Hopefully we're now getting through a period where the quality has been a little thin on the ground.

Funny you should say that the match was the first time half the team had played together.

| Its not about treating players badly so they leave, its being honest about the fact they just won't get picked.
From there its up to them. DR is limited so its a long loan or they move on.
If anything our current squad suggests hard conversations haven't been had and as a result some players have kidded themselves that they just have to hang around long enough to get picked.
That may have been true before, but we've now got a bunch of young players who deserve a shot before some of our poorer squad players.

Which players are these then? The club seems to have let it be known of whom it wants rid. Some - Cuthbertson & Parcell - are being selected, so no need for that conversation there. Ormondroyd and Walters weren't being picked and have gone which suggests the club had spelled out their positions to them. Golding and Mullally remain and presumably aren't fighting off too many offers from prospective employers, many of whom will have their own cap issues right now. I suspect these two are probably well aware of where they stand but why would they rush when chances are they'll get better offers if they wait? Golding might in any case get picked if Walker's form becomes a problem and Mullally is, I believe, getting a business up and running so can probably afford time out of the firing line and maybe even appreciates it. No, I think it likely that the club has told players exactly where they stand.
