Me too and that's why I made it into a top twelve.
Gary Schofield - 748
Ellery Hanley - 427
And while I'm being random
Francis Cummins - 912

Garry Schofield: Played 243 + 7, 147 Tries, 65 Goals, 30 Drop Goals, 748 Points
A couple of live ones going forward:
Rob Burrow - 738 Points
Danny McGuire - 638 Points
Although I don't see either troubling the top eleven unless they get the kicking job away from Sinfield which is fairly unlikely unless the unthinkable happens.

| I know they are from different eras, but the appearance of Eric Harris and John Atkinson in that list is laudable for the fact that as far as I'm aware neither kicked a goal for the club.

I could see Burrow doing it. In the last 4 and a half seasons he has scored 456 points (71 tries & 95 goals), its is conceivable that in 3 more seasons he could top 1000

I sense that Burrow's try scoring is slowing now (it certainly has this season) from it's peak in 2005. If he can pick it up again then he still has a fair chance.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you that Eric Harris' 391 tries alone could not amass 1,205 points.
John Atkinson never kicked a goal for Leeds and rarely put boot to ball either. Favouring his right foot, whenever he did it would invariably sail into the stands to much mirth.

Ranked higher in terms of try scoring but that's where it ended for me. On that list he also ranked higher than Lewis Jones (amongst others) so make of that what you will.
Cummins' main/sole contribution throughout his career was finishing off the good work of others and it's a job he did quite well. He once or twice created opportunities for himself but they, from memory, came early in his career and were few and far between. He was in my estimation a very limited player otherwise.
The description 'stealing a living' was applied to the period after 2001 when Leeds released Raynor and extended Cummins' contract after Wakefield had turned him down. By that stage he had stopped putting his body on the line, working out of dummy half, chasing kicks downfield and yet under Daryl Powell was a permanent fixture on one wing in a typically underachieving team. It was highly significant that the first thing Tony Smith did in charge of Leeds was 'not select' (some might say 'drop') the previously untouchable Francis Cummins.
Just my opinion.

Andy,
I must certainly be the only one who posts on here who remembers seeing Eric Harris kick goals at Headingley. Although there will be some members of the Veterans Club who will no doubt remember.

| At the time I didn't think Frannie warranted a place in our side (I'm thinking more of 2003/4 though), and preferred us to select the flawed, but highly dangerous Calderwood. However some of the things you've said about him tvoc are a little harsh IMO, he always gave 100% IMO, and until his pace went around 2002 he was a very very good finisher.

Did you agree with Raynor being released and Cummins being retained in 2001?
He may well have given his personal 100% but it was a largely ineffective effort post 2001. Wakefield didn't think he was worth taking on and I was disappointed that Leeds re-contracted him almost, as if, out of sympathy. Professional sport can be a harsh environment but occasionally I see Leeds shy away from making the tough but correct decisions with players.
Cummins was and continues to be a great club man though.

He also used to kick on the first tackle, mostly into touch in the times of contested scrums, so the front row were not to pleased to have to scrum down against such as jim mills on the strength of one of atky's brain explosions.

| Kevin Sinfield has kicked 37 from his last 38 attempts at goal for a 97% success rate. Had he not missed the kick from the second Ryan Hall try V the Bulls he would now be the world record holder.....probably. But that didn't happen so it's currently 12 and counting again.
