Thats like Sela or North Bar, although the beers there are good quality and strong, but you have to sup them slow at the prices they charge. I have found Leeds to be much more expensive in terms of alcohol prices in recent years, when I moved here in 2004 you could easily find cheap drinks in lots of places in the city centre if you knew what had promotions on on what night, nowadays its much more pricey and up near Call Lane or Clarence Dock area I think they are trying to price out students and locals so that their bars can be exclusive to the 'young professionals' (financial services wkers).

I still enjoy a good Friday night session at Cockpit though.

I found Neon Cactus and Brooklyn on Call Lane pretty reasonable for drinking prices on Friday night. They still don’t beat Cockpit on a Friday night at £2 a drink though. I must have had about 8 when I last went in there. The only problem with cockpit is the music because it’s all Indy and pretty much nothing else. It’s probably one of the best places for gigs in the upstairs ‘third room’ though.

But probably one of the biggest shames is that these ‘posh’ bars are pricing people out like you said. Back in the day my frugal mate would normally find someone equally frugal to talk to in Oporto. This is someone who once said he’d buy my drinks all night and we ended up sharing half a pint. So recently I’ve been dragged up to Fab Café which is even more hellish for music than cockpit because these other bars have priced him out. Still it wasn’t as bad as Cuts café which was an abandoned building occupied by protesters against the cuts. The drinks were cheap - £1 odd for gaymers tinny.

North Bar is a really, really good bar and it has some of the best imported beers available in town, but geezus is it exspensive!

Is anyone a taxi driver? How do them little taxi machine things work?

Well the old man was, they're linked up to the odometer, they go up every time you go .1 of a mile (usually 10/20p).

I mean the little machine things that has a list of jobs and then they chose which one they'll do and then it flashes green? and makes a little beepy soung. How do they work? I really don't get it at all.

They send all the jobs through and the taxi driver selects his job, in some firms it is a bit like fastest finger!!!

My Cat has smashed my Iphone, thought it was a football and kicked it off the side. Well peeved off, Will cost 200 + to fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand now chaps. I've just started to ring taxis on a night out, they're well cheaper that way. The ones that sit around in bus lanes and stuff are well overpriced.

I used to always try and ring but latley I have been getting proper mashed and just stumbling towards the first black and white i see and concentrate on the way home not to re decorate the cab. I have lost some weight recently but it has impared my drinking ability.

Further training up is needed to get my new slimmer body used to the high alcohol content.

Not half, but its a pain in the ar[is[/ie waiting around for one. I've tried ringing before and ended up waiting an hour for it to turn up. The ones that were parked up wouldn't let us in as the council were on the warpath!

Mid week benders are ok as you dont have to wait long. But weekends are a nightmare.

I went and sat a bus stop after a night out, realised it was a 30min wait til the first bus, gave up and rang a taxi.
